Learning Leader | Systems Thinker | Instructional Designer | Developing Relevant Experiences for Today’s Learners
Good morning all - Here is the latest from the GFL Lead Learner Blog. Would love to hear your thoughts! It has famously been stated many times that culture eats strategy for breakfast. In building schools that are focused on building agency and purpose, the development of a supportive culture for these aims is paramount. Rather than settling for managing the status quo, transformational leaders focus their efforts on building and shaping that supportive culture for the benefit of the students in the school. When working on building next-generation school cultures, it is helpful for a school leadership team to think about four important questions: How can we understand and define the desired cultural characteristics of our constituents? What do the mental models of student success look like in building the desired culture? How might we work with the "middle third" to encourage the adoption of innovative practices and move the culture forward? How do we reduce the friction (barriers) that are getting in the way of moving the culture forward? Building an innovative and future-focused culture is no easy task. It requires vision and persistence. Success can be found in being consistent in the adoption and application of Deming's 14 points as a way to embed ways of taking on The Four Frictions that are everpresent in any school or organization taking on larger scale transformations.

Founder @ Awarely | Trauma-informed operations & people leader | Advocate for progressive workplace well-being and sustainable growth
March is always a time of big shifts and milestones for me. 16 years ago this March, I met my partner. 10 years ago, I started my first director role. 5 years ago, I did my health coaching certification. 3 years ago, I became a trauma-informed yoga teacher. 1 year ago, I left my exec job in tech and went back to school to become a trauma therapist. This March, I'm 2 months into starting Awarely Embodied Leadership, joining my first incubator program for female tech founders, launching my first online course and doing things that terrify me every single day. And I couldn't be happier. So here's to non-linear career paths, big leaps, forever learning and finding the place we're meant to be. #embodiedleadership
