Public transport will be key for the success of #Paris2024Olympics. At UITP, we support our members hosting #largeevents to share experience and learn from previous host cities and #publictransport networks. We recently organised a dedicated workshop in New Jersey which will be hosting games, including the final, of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ - Canada, Mexico and the United States. More activities expected.

Capacity building and knowledge transfer are a pillar of UITP mission. We are proud to offer every year to emerging leaders from all over the world the opportunity to be part of the #LaurentDauby Scholarship named after our late colleague who was amongst the best public transport experts. Honoured to have signed in Guangzhou the memorandum of #cooperation between UITP and the Chinese Urban Public Transport Association. #CUPTA counts 800 members operating city #bus networks in #China. This agreement should support the development of UITP in China and facilitate the involvement of local operators with our members globally. It comes after the recent signing of a cooperation agreement with the Chinese Association of Metros #CAMET which covers 47 #metro systems. I am convinced this cooperation will benefit to all #publictransport stakeholders. There's so much to #share and #learn. Stay tuned for future activities!

#Passion #Curiosity #Boldness #Wellbeing #Determination These are keywords that have arisen from the panel I had the privilege to moderate in #Dubai during the UITP MENA event celebrating #women in #publictransport. It was an open discussion where women shared the challenges they face in a male dominated industry and how they overcame them thanks to their determination and passion. Also the #inspiration they got from their parents and other role models played an essential role. I hope one day we won't need this kind of event anymore. It would mean that women will not face issues at work related to the fact that they are women, and men will have accepted that women are not a threat but an ally. #Mindset That was a key word at the UITP MENA Conference that took place in #Salalah, #Oman. How to change the mindset of users and policymakers towards #publictransport? This is a fundamental question. As long as we treat public transport as the mode of those who have no other choice, it will never be perceived positively. #Policymakers must be made aware of the many benefits public transport brings in terms of contribution to the economy, road safety, environment, social development etc. #Travellers expect a quality service, including higher frequency and commercial speed, as well as a better #image which will make them value public transport.
