MOBILIST recently hosted two events in Sao Paulo to highlight the contribution that public markets can make to closing the SDG financing gap in Brazil. The first event took place at the British Consulate in Sao Paulo. Stephanie Al-Qaq, the UK Ambassador to Brazil, and Lucas Ferraz, the Secretary of International Affairs of the Sao Paulo State Government, attended. UK in Brazil The second was hosted by B3 and focused on sharing learning from MOBILIST’s pipeline and portfolio. The discussion also considered the policy and regulatory enablers required to scale private capital mobilisation through the public markets. Follow the money - How can skills of the future be identified and what contribution can #TeamEurope make? As speaker of the Practitioners' Network for European Development Cooperation's "Private Sector Engagement" working group, I invited jointly with Jakub Šimek, to discuss possible forms of cooperation with the private sector in the development of technical and vocational education and training programs (#TVET). What I have learned: - #Webcrawling is an appropriate method to identify labor market's demand - Organizing #cross-#institutional #collaboration promotes sustainable demand for skills and appropriate curriculum development. - TVET programs and the implementation of the #GlobalGateway should be closely coordinated in future: Where skills are lacking, positive effects on household incomes through infrastructure investment fail to materialize. - Development Cooperation Projects are able to present their #USP in 5 minutes: https://lnkd.in/etc-NvQU - More effective than predicting potential skills needs in the future for different economies is to follow the money and develop offers where large investments are made.
#PrivateSector Work Stream e-met last week to explore what #TeamEurope can do to make a significant contribution to develop the skills needed for the future 💼💡 👥 We worked together to better understand what skills on the job market will be needed, and what European ODA can do to develop these skills in collaboration with private sector stakeholders. Thank you to all presenters from #AICS, British Council, Enabel, LuxDev, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation, DG INTPA, and DC dVET - Donor Committee for dual Vocational Education and Training. #StrongerTogether #WorkingBetterTogether #PNKnowledge

"Strive for BETTER, strive to be MIEUX!" It was a privilege for me to participate as a speaker at the MIEUX Initiative Impact Event: Celebrating 15 Years of Partnerships and Peer Exchange on Migration Governance, held in Brussels on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The closing ceremony aimed to acknowledge the collective impact achieved over the years, celebrate milestones, share valuable insights and lessons learned, and provide an interactive platform for networking and knowledge-sharing on targeted capacity development in migration governance and management. The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) MIEUX Initiative has played a crucial role in fostering collaboration between the European Union and partner countries like Kyrgyzstan, enhancing understanding of migration dynamics. It has facilitated the convergence of diverse stakeholders to develop national and regional migration objectives, supported the establishment of institutional cooperation frameworks, and equipped MIEUX partners with tailored practices, solutions, and policies. A heartfelt gratitude goes out to the MIEUX family - Ralph Genetzke, Alfred Woeger, Megan Pilli, Oleg Chirița, Diana Hincu, and many others for their unwavering support and commitment to our shared initiatives. We are anticipating the next endeavor from the MIEUX family with great excitement! #ICMPD, #MIEUX, #EuropeanComission, #EU, #DGINPA, #Brussels, #MigrationGovernance, #CapacityDevelopment, #Peer2PeerExchange, #Partnerships

thanks #MISE for sharing an attendance certificate as those who worked in my two projects for #SviluppoItalia (now #Invitalia) or met me at #ComPa almost two decades ago know, also if most of my activities since the 1980s have been in the private sector in Italy first and then abroad, I always advocated more audience- vs. internal-focused communication, as it is the only way to then build a virtuous feed-back cycle from #society to #State and back and to avoid piling up on the tribal attitude typical of private and public organizations in Italy also a self-referential attitude, attitude that documented in articles and books of course, I walked the talk: some in the former Sviluppo Italia FDI Attraction function probably remember that, when asked to contribute to communication, as it was outside the scope of the project I led part-time, simply did it pro-bono outside business & billable hours - as those few hours would not change my personal bottom line, but could help others in doing what only they could do for the sake of #Italy way forward? I would start from dissecting the #PNRR from its inception, to see why the initial opening of the doors to civil society did not deliver from start the #common #good attitude and plan that the ongoing crisis required anyway, since 2020 shared commentary and ideas as well as material, both as posts, articles, datasets on my website and other platforms, in CC-BY mode and will publish more soon https://lnkd.in/d-eKgcz7 stay tuned! meanwhile: why don't you visit #MISE #ATC website to see planned seminars? this is the link: https://lnkd.in/drd56VCw

Wondering how “listening” can best translate into effective regional partnerships? We took a stab at setting out some small, medium and larger steps that might shift the dial. Take a look at the latest Pitch at the links below.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong and International Development Minister Pat Conroy MP have declared that Australia must “listen” to the region. They’ve pledged to put genuine consultation at the heart of the Government’s new Development Partnership Plans. But what does that mean in practice, and how will it generate trust in our development partnerships? In the first of three Pitches looking at how Australia can be the region’s partner of choice, the Lab considers what skills and mechanisms Australia needs to be a better listener. Lessons learned: participating in EU projects THEIA-XR was one of the examples of projects when Pekka Yli-Paunu was sharing his experience with EU funded projects to Finnish SMEs and repesentatives from Large Enterprises in a regional event in Tampere. In his presentation, Pekka was covering the entire process from reasons to participate over the proposal phase to the now running execution of the project. The group size allowed interesting discussions among the participants who were not (yet) active in Horizon Europe or similar programs. #horizoneu #sme #lessonslearned Kalmar

The Closing Plenary of CTIF & Jamfest ‘23: #AfrIcaFlows will reflect on the influence of Artificial Intelligence in the work of media and civic tech innovators on the African continent. The panel will tie together key themes and ideas that have come out of the discussions during the conference. Speakers will be encouraged to highlight the creative and dynamic ways Africa is flowing and how this momentum could be carried forward. What types of support do we need in the civic tech and media innovation industry to keep flowing? What are the barriers (existing and future) that may hinder or deflect this flow? In planning for Africa’s digital transformation wave, what is the role of innovation, collaboration, and partnerships? Who will likely be the key stakeholders in this process? Register for the Closing Plenary here: https://t.ly/XnT45 #AfricaFlows #CivicTech #Africa
