Happy International Women's Day! I'd like to take this day to highlight the most important woman in my life, my mom, Vicky LaRouech. Born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan, my mom discovered sports as a child, finding both an outlet and a community. Naturally gifted, she excelled in any sport she tried, going on to play volleyball, basketball and field hockey at Western Michigan University (pre-Title IX, she even sewed her own uniform numbers!). She is the most competitive person I know and instilled in me a sense of purpose and drive. After college, she became a dedicated physical education teacher and coach at Pennfield High School for 32 years. A highly accomplished coach, her teams won three state championships, including a remarkable feat of winning volleyball and basketball titles in the same year, which even gained her recognition in Sports Illustrated. Her dedication wasn't limited to wins; I grew up witnessing her fight tirelessly to secure equal access to gym-time, funding, and respect for her women's teams, demonstrating incredible grit and perseverance. Sports weren't her only talent. A true renaissance woman, she also designed and built (GC'ed) three of our family homes and even launched a screen-printing business in our barn, which helped support our family adventures and my diverse interests. As a PE teacher, she naturally instilled in me the importance of academics and athletics, but also encouraged me to explore other interests like theater, dance, choir and art. I'm certain that my curiosity and diverse skill set stem from witnessing her pursue multiple areas of expertise. Now retired and soon to be 75, she continues to lead an active life, dominating me on the pickleball court, organizing competitive ping pong tournaments with friends, enjoying activities such as golfing, dancing to live music, and spending time at Disney World.  Our relationship continues to evolve and grow stronger with each passing year. She's not only my mom, but also my best friend, a constant source of support and encouragement, and someone I can always rely on for a pep talk or a listening ear. We talk every day. While she may not be an expert in PEOs or business acquisitions, her wisdom and unique perspective continue to be invaluable as I navigate my current journey. She's held many titles throughout her life – teacher, coach, athlete, entrepreneur, and friend. But to me, she's all of that and much more: Mom. I know I wouldn't be where I am today without her unwavering love, support, and constant belief in me. Love you, Mom! 💜
