A relevant topic very well presented.
This week I was able to present my thesis at EURēCA, and I am so grateful for this opportunity. For the past year I have been doing research and conducting an event study on Cancel Culture and how it is affecting companies. I have gotten to learn a lot about how this affects marketing and about the research process itself. Thank you to Kelly Hewett for your mentorship and Kiwoong Yoo for your guidance as well. I also want to thank Smith Global Leadership Scholars for giving me this opportunity and equipping me to excel.

Meet Mizzou Alumni Bonnie Pompey! Bonnie graduated from Mizzou with a Dual Degree in International Business with an emphasis in Management and East Asian Studies! Currently, Bonnie is a Senior Team Manager at Charles Schwab! What have been important experiences throughout your journey? "To realize the importance of having a great mentorship and stay humble. I learn something new every day, and I learn so much from my team members. To understand the importance of leadership in one’s career, learn to be selfless and practice servant leadership." What is some advice you have for Mizzou students? "Take the time to explore your interests and don’t compare your journey to anyone else. We all have our own timeline, take the time to enjoy the journey, and don’t be afraid to fail. Some of the best lessons I learned were from failing/doing something wrong, getting back up, and trying again. And don’t be afraid to apply to jobs outside your comfort zone. Be confident in your abilities and go for it!" Students, do you want to learn more? Connect with Bonnie Pompey on LinkedIn!

I am thrilled to share a milestone in my journey of professional growth and development. While I am just finalizing a transformative 14-month Chief Operating Officer Program at MIT which completes the end of April, I am now embarking on a new chapter by enrolling in the Chief Executive Officer Program through Berkeley Haas Executive Education starting at the end of June. This opportunity is more than just a program; it's a gateway to honing the skills necessary to cultivate vision and drive essentials for leading a global organization in the dynamic landscape of the 21st century. At our company, we firmly believe in the power of continuous learning. It's not just a philosophy but a practice embedded in our culture. I've witnessed firsthand the immense value that ongoing education brings to individuals within our organization. It's not merely about acquiring new knowledge but about fostering a mindset of innovation, adaptability, and excellence. In today's fast-paced business environment, staying ahead means continuously evolving, challenging ourselves, and embracing change. Whether it's mastering the latest industry trends, refining leadership capabilities, or exploring cutting-edge strategies, investing in education is non-negotiable. By committing to lifelong learning, we empower ourselves to navigate complexities, seize opportunities, and drive meaningful impact. I'm deeply grateful for the unwavering support of my colleagues, mentors, and Venturis Capital who have championed my pursuit of knowledge and growth. Together, we're building a culture where curiosity thrives, innovation flourishes, and success knows no bounds. 🌟 Embracing a new month with gratitude 🌟 As we step into a new month, it's a reminder that fresh opportunities and a sense of gratitude await us. Life doesn't always go as planned, and we don't always have all the answers. But that's the beauty of it - we adapt and roll with the punches. I can't help but feel grateful for the journey I've been on. Paths aren't always linear, and even when we thought we knew our destination, life has a way of surprising us and prompting us to pivot. Some doors close, while others open, but no matter what I know I am excited for what lies ahead. I've had the privilege of forging new friendships, connecting with inspiring industry leaders, and meeting incredible contributors to our industry. Dr. Thomas Litzinger, AAP and James O'Dell, AAP are just a few examples of individuals who have left a lasting impact on me. I'm thankful for the opportunity to learn and grow through experiences like Leadership 2.0. Reading John Passante's book "The Human Side," one quote that resonates deeply with me is - Look through the windshield, not the rearview mirror. In our journey towards success and growth, it's important to focus on what lies ahead rather than dwelling on the past. While reflection has its merits, true progress comes from keeping our eyes on the future. By adopting a forward-thinking mindset, we open ourselves up to new opportunities, ideas, and fresh perspectives. It allows us to navigate through challenges with resilience and embrace change as a catalyst for growth. As we embark on each new day or month, let's remember to set our sights on the horizon, embracing the possibilities that lie ahead. The power of bold choices. ✨ We often see success, and it looks easy, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. What’s not always shown are the bold choices and courageous actions taken to get there. Today, I am at Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education studying the Art of Leadership Development to support others' growth and transformation as CEO of 7A Leadership. What very few know is that more than 20 years ago, I boarded a flight to New York with just 100 English words in my vocabulary. I dropped out of university halfway through to take a year off to learn English, which meant it took me 7 years to earn my first degree. Due to my gap year in the US, I didn't start my first career job until age 25. While many of my friends were already far ahead, I eventually caught up and accelerated my progress to close the gap. 🚀 Three years ago, I stepped out of my comfort zone and chose growth (and discomfort) once again. A 17-month EMBA journey with INSEAD opened my eyes to life beyond corporate walls. I chose to put my career on pause and to undergo a stressful and uncertain career transformation to move from healthcare to a new industry and function. It has been an incredible journey with endless memorable moments and fascinating people I have met along the way. It has also been a journey of bold choices and courageous actions that went against the grain, the norm, others advice and often loss of support. 💡What I have learned? Growth doesn't happen in our comfort zone and trusting our intuition is often more valuable than anyones advice. What bold choices will you be celebrating year from now? #hks #insead #executiveeducation

How do you overcome the fear of uncertainty? “It's tempting to go with what's the most familiar, but you'll learn the most by being around people who bring different perspectives,” says Lori Nishiura Mackenzie, graduate of The Wharton School. “Don't go for the groups that feel the most comfortable.” What's one thing you learned from someone with a different perspective? “You don’t need to have an MBA to be a leader. And yet, as we look at our conference rooms, our boardroom tables, C-suites, so many of these leaders do have MBAs,” says Mita Mallick, Carta’s Head of Inclusion, Equity and Impact and graduate of Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business. It’s true that a B-school degree can be a catalyst for career growth, whether that be a seat at the boardroom table or beyond. We talked to some of our Top Voices, Mita Mallick (Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business ‘07), Nathalie Walton (Stanford University Graduate School of Business ‘12) and Lori Nishiura Mackenzie (The Wharton School ‘93) to hear how their MBA degrees shaped their career trajectories. How has your MBA degree made an impact on your career? Tell us in the comments. For more from LinkedIn’s Top MBA Programs, check out our full list here: https://lnkd.in/USTopMBA2023
