Day 1 of the Figma Config Conference provided incredible insights into upcoming features that will significantly boost productivity and keep our creative teams in their flow state. 🦾 Here's a quick breakdown of what we learned so far: Figma AI Upgrades Solving the blank canvas problem Content and language testing: Bringing designs closer to production-ready states and testing new languages and content sizings directly within Figma. UI3: Figma redesign - more space, more search More space, more search: A sleeker and more efficient interface. Figma Slides Build, collaborate, present: Improved prototype generation and editing for presentations. More team members can now confidently update pitch decks right in Figma Slides (or Flides?). Dev Mode updates From design-ready to dev-complete: New status labels streamline the design-to-dev process. Quality-of-life improvements Auto Layout: Suggests wrapping nested nodes in frames, saving valuable time and maintaining designers' flow. Responsive Preview Testing: Resize to see responsive changes directly in the Figma previewer. Community UI Kits: Now available for easier building. Org Level File Browser Refresh: A fresh, organized approach to file management. The closing keynote was both refreshing and inspiring. Config showed us last week that Figma has been ship-ship-shipping 🚢 Some of our favorite new updates: - Auto Layer Renaming (great for handoffs between our design leads Alejandro Rodriguez & Monish Khara). - The new AI features are a little bit scary, but definitely handy! - The prototyping and dev mode upgrades make getting our client's websites live so much easier. But hands down the show stealer was Figma Slides. Google Slides is great because it's so easily shareable, but it always lacked granular design control. It looks like Figma Slides is going to plug that need, we’re excited to start using it!

Today's Morning in Figma Config, my takeaway from the keynotes of Figma, was explained well by Dylan Field. It's amazing 1. Redesigned Figma - A completely new experience. Made it easy for designers to focus on the design area they are working on. 2. Run AI in Figma - All Figma AI features are game changers for designers. I am very excited to use and implement those features in the workflow. 3. Dev mode with code connect - Now it is easy to hand off your design to developers, connect your design, and implement it without writing code manually and save developer time to match design and consistency. Last but not least, Slide deck—I can't believe I don't have to rely on PowerPoint anymore to showcase my strategies. Now, I can use my own design and embed my prototype within the slides. Just wrapped up Figma Config 2024, and wow, what an event! Figma Slides is an absolute game-changer for pitch decks—no more exporting and tweaking in PPT. The new suggested auto-layout and layer renaming features are fantastic, making the design smoother and more intuitive. I haven’t explored the AI features yet, but they look promising. Figma keeps pushing boundaries, and seeing the evolution every year is exciting. Can’t wait to dive into all the new features! 🚀 #Config2024 #Figma

For me, the most impressive keynote this year was Figma (and I'm not a designer). There is something about the CEO talking about the product and sharing the process around this product update. It is very satisfying to see how they start with their core tech—the canvas and collaboration—and expand their products. My rating of the announcements 1. The developer is ready for work improvements and code connect. 2. UI3 3. The Slides product 4. the AI stuff
