The artificial part is clear enough. This definition problem has nothing to do with AI but everything to do with the vague notions we hold of human intelligence, something humanity has grappled with since antiquity. Poorly defined measures like IQ pushed us down the road of horrors. In simple terms, you cannot define it from within your black box. The closest you can come is to make yourself an approximate reference, which is what the brilliant Turing did, cutting through the Gordian Knot of such vagueness. When there is no model of human intelligence—and the foremost philosophers of every period struggled to offer one—how the heck do we expect the “titans of industry” to offer anything meaningful. You’re barking up the wrong tree.

A lot of us think AI is like when you look in the mirror and you fall in love with what you see. But you can't exactly say why. Even though you're a titan of industry.

AI is algorithms that retirieve, manipulate and categorize data. Any analysis can be broken down into manipulating data and/or categorizing it.
