🌟 Black History Month invites us to embrace not only the extraordinary achievements of notable Black figures but also to recognize and celebrate the everyday lives and contributions of Black individuals. It’s a time to reflect on the societal expectations placed on people of color—that to be acknowledged, one must be exceptional in some way. This month, let’s challenge that narrative and affirm that being oneself, in all aspects of life, is inherently valuable and worthy of celebration. Notable figures like Maya Angelou, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and James Baldwin have left indelible marks on our history and culture. However, the strength and essence of the Black community also lie in its teachers, nurses, artists, parents, and all those who contribute to the richness of our shared society by simply being themselves. As we engage in Black History Month, let’s commit to recognizing and valuing the diverse contributions of the Black community, not as exceptions but as integral parts of the tapestry of our collective history. It’s an opportunity to affirm that excellence comes in countless forms and that every individual, regardless of their background, enriches our community simply by being part of it. Here’s to a month of meaningful reflection, celebration, and a renewed commitment to inclusivity and understanding. #BlackHistoryMonth #CelebrateEveryStory #InclusiveExcellence #EverydayExcellence

As we kick off Black History Month, we're reminded of the invaluable contributions, resilience, and cultural richness of the African American community. This month isn't just about looking back; it's about recognizing the journey, the struggles, and the ongoing pursuit of justice and equity. Although it is a time to celebrate, it is also crucial to acknowledge the disparities that persist in homeownership for Black Americans. Despite progress, Black homeownership rates in America still lag behind other groups, a reflection of historic injustices and discriminatory practices. Let's continue to advocate for fair housing policies, support initiatives that promote economic empowerment, and work towards a future where everyone has equal opportunities to achieve homeownership and financial security. Join us in honoring the past, celebrating the present, and shaping a more inclusive and equitable future for all. Together, we can make history. https://lnkd.in/gNB2aJ4G

This #BlackHistoryMonth, we are celebrating and honoring a few of our providers and APPs who are essential to our team. Dr. Myriam Roby, Health Equity Clinical Outcomes Director/Hospital Medicine Provider What makes Black History Month meaningful to you? "Black History Month allows me to reflect on the past and present and undisputedly show gratitude, rejoice, and honor my ancestors and the fruits of their labors. Black history is American history. To seek change brings a sense of responsibility to continue to amplify the core message of transforming our societies to be equitable, non-judgmental, and inclusive of all people everywhere, irrespective of race, gender, or other social constructs. Also, having more representation in healthcare will allow for the Black voice to be heard and seen. Many Black people have contributed to advances in healthcare. The social determinants of health relate to the healthcare system. Black leaders, scientists, healthcare providers, educators, and activists' representation in healthcare is crucial. Their experience and appreciation of Black culture, community, food, and more add to the improved delivery of culturally competent patient-centered care."
