Financial Technology Solutions Specialist | Innovation facilitator since 2001 | Bridge-builder between Software Vendors & Corporate | ESG | "2009 Sales as a Service" founder | White labelling strategy | FRA- ENG-SPA
🔙 10 years ago, back in June 2013, I wroted that before working on a sales outsourcing project with Finelis - Sales & Marketing Outsourcing top managers had concerns (❓), benefits (✅) and observations (✔️) : ❓Outsourcing value? "We have our own sales people. Sales cannot be outsourced" ❓Knowledge? "You need to have a lot of knowledge to sell our products" ❓Competition? "You distribute several offers. It is risky for us, you could work for competitors." ❓Control? "How can I control your work if you work in your own offices?" ❓Investment Value? "Why should I pay fixed costs for your company if have no results" ❓Expected Revenues? "What is my guarantee of future revenues?" The benefits in 2013 were: ✅ avoid any HR & legal risks to recruit skilled sales teams ✅ Benefit from a software sales structure/expertise for a limited cost. ✅ Easily address new markets without setup & administrative costs ✅ Benefit from a secured clause of protection VS competitors. ✅ Benefit from a personalized & confident network built for LT ✅ Save time to focus on your high priorities. ✅ Maximize resource time on both existing & future clients. ✅ Reduce operational costs ✅ Get a fair fee model based on Result In 2013, we noted : ✔️For top managers, time is money, but support is local (conf calls were already highly used to reduce travel costs!) ✔️Many groups had at least a bad experience with a SW vendor. ✔️Except for mandatory regulatory constraints, IT budgets are limited for new projects (whose ROI is not proven) ✔️Companies had to run a RFI/RFP with a consulting firm be it local or not to select a product ✔️top managers expect 3 qualities from their sales: independence, experience & honesty. ✔️B2B firms < 200-250 staff can sell in up to 5 countries, while more than 80% of their turnover is done in max 3 countries with cultural similarities with the firm’s HQ). ✔️An overall increase in sales process duration ✔️Costs of SW licenses decreased on 2008-2013. ✔️Pressure on consulting rates (for implementation) is high ✔️Costs of infrastructure (renting an office, etc.) is expensive in most of the business cities. ✔️Clients require + and + fixed-price projects with strict legal clauses to avoid inadequate solution implementation. ✔️The association between sales and pre-sales people is key for success: SW quality is required, but the consultative approach of the team is a MUST ✔️Sales people need to look not only at future revenue, but also cost issues, which have become essential before qualification. ✔️ Top management needs to have visibility on a weekly basis to select the best resource allocation. ✔️ Advising clients is a matter of honesty and requires a fair understanding of their cultural environment and growth strategy. ✔️Signing a contract (to sell software and implement it) depends on a range of criteria and is definitely not matter of luck 🔜 Do you think concerns (❓), benefits (✅) and observations (✔️) will change in 2024? Happy to listen to you...

Business Consultant Specializing in Business Brokerage Services, Valuation, Credit Card Processing, Cost Segregation, Fractional Leadership, & Identifying R&D Tax Credits for Small to Mid-Sized Businesses.
Hiring a full-time, experienced sales manager can be expensive for a small business, especially if they don't require a dedicated sales manager on a daily basis. By utilizing a fractional sales manager, the business can access high-quality sales management services on a part-time or project basis, which is usually more cost-effective. They can leverage the fractional sales manager's expertise without bearing the burden of a full-time salary and benefits package. Small businesses often experience fluctuating sales cycles or have periods of rapid growth. Fractional sales managers offer flexibility by working with the business on a temporary or as-needed basis. They can be brought in during peak sales periods, specific projects, or when the business needs to scale up its sales efforts. Once the goals are achieved or the need subsides, the business can adjust the engagement accordingly.Fractional sales managers have extensive experience and expertise in sales and marketing. They bring valuable knowledge and skills to the table, which can help the small business improve its sales strategies, processes, and outcomes. These professionals often have a diverse background working with different companies and industries, allowing them to provide fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.Disclaimer The Titan Business Advisors Inc.
