According to the Oxford Dictionary, a lighthouse is described as a tower or similar structure equipped with a beacon light to caution or guide ships navigating at sea. It is a rightful obligation of every leader to serve as a beacon of guidance and support for the young individuals in their midst. Strength, safety, individuality, and resilience stand as fundamental attributes of a lighthouse, qualities that should be exemplified by every leader. A truly exceptional leader possesses the capacity to steer those under their guidance towards the realization of their objectives. Learn the the foundational approaches of building relationships; identifying problems and stakeholders; analyzing root causes including racial, class and other systemic injustice; and nurturing community leadership and solidarity. We will explore these methods through small and large group discussion, interactive exercises, and case studies. This training is intended for staff members and community leaders who have little to no experience in community engagement and organizing.

At Fostering Great Ideas, we annually increase the number of children served and the levels of support provided each child. How? We operate from core values that haven't changed (children matter; relationships are key; communities can respond together).
