On board the Bangor to Euston train having successfully summitted Snowdon yesterday with my colleagues from the Phoenix HR COO leadership team. We did so in the memory of a brilliant HR colleague who died suddenly in February from a fatal epileptic seizure and I’m pleased that we’re on course to raise over £11,000 for the Epilepsy Society (post fund matching).

Washington, D.C.-based Consultant Stephanie Hakeem, MPS shares the special reason she participates in STEPtember, an annual fundraising challenge for Cerebral Palsy (CP) research. Visit this link to support #TeamFTI as we come together to fund CP research and services: https://lnkd.in/eVkwTFeh
Why is STEPtember important?
Stephanie: STEPtember provides people the opportunity to learn more about CP and how it impacts the day-to-day lives of those living with the disorder. I have seen first-hand how people with CP can lead exceptional lives, living every day to the best of their ability. It is important to make sure that all those with CP have access to the resources and assistance they need to thrive.
Why do you step?
Stephanie: I step in memory of my cousin Kara who was born with CP. She was a Special Olympian, equestrian, bowler, softball player and even did cheer. Kara never saw herself as different, and if anyone out there saw her as different, she never let it stop her from doing whatever it was she wanted to do.
What are your STEPtember goals?
Stephanie: My main goals are to raise funds for an amazing cause – the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation – and spread awareness. By participating in STEPtember, you are committing to better understanding people with differing abilities, which in turn sheds light on how we as individuals can make lasting change to better the lives of those around us.
What about STEPtember are you looking forward to most?
Stephanie: I look forward to coming together with an entire community across geographies, where we are working to achieve a common goal: a more accessible future for everyone.

REPOST📲 this video to raise awareness of childhood acquired brain injury.
✨ Your daily reminder that…
1 - ABI's affect the way a child feels, thinks and responds to situations.
2 - The full impact of an ABI only becomes more apparent as the child grows up.
3 - With the right strategies and support in place, children and young people can still live full and happy lives.
4 - As each child is different, so is their injury and the support they need.
5 - The more we explore our own thoughts and collaborate with others, the more awareness we can raise of childhood acquired brain injury.
We think our Service Manager Dalia Chowdhury hit the nail on the head with this one. Comment below if you agree.

Some of you might already be familiar with Steven Darbyshire, a recent addition to our team, but for those who haven't had the pleasure yet I'm thrilled to introduce him as a crucial part of our journey.
What makes 'Darbs' so special? It's not just his professional acumen, but his personal empathy and understanding. Both he and his wife, Amanda, have been incredible pillars of support for me, especially during what has been an exceptionally challenging year, balancing the responsibilities of parenthood with a child with extra needs.
An inspiring idea was tabled by Steve and Amanda. They proposed participating in a marathon to aid our ongoing fundraising efforts for the Epilepsy Research Institute. This cause is close to our hearts, supporting my son Marcus's journey and other children facing similar, if not more daunting, challenges.
💫 Our Ambitious Goal: Raising £50,000 💫
Achieving this target is crucial, and I'm calling on our industry for support. This marathon is just one of the many events we're organising to chip away at our goal.
For our next event, I'm envisioning the support of 100 of the industry's finest and a lender who can step up as a sponsor. Who's in? If you want to support please message/call me.
Darbs isn't just a colleague; he's the kind of person you want by your side - both at the office and in life's tougher battles. His participation in the marathon isn't just about fitness; it's a stride towards making life better for little warriors like my son, Marcus, who has endured more in his short life than many of us will go through in a lifetime!
If you're looking to make a difference, consider supporting Darbs' marathon run. Every contribution brings us closer to easing the lives of children like my brave Marcus.
Let's come together and show what our industry can do. Your support, whether through donations, spreading the word, or participating in our events, is invaluable.
This time we fix the source, we can only do that with funding into research.
Thank you, and let's make this happen!

In 2015, my husband's sister passed away from stroke complications. She was a 23-year old college athlete (and a fellow Maggie).
On April 15, he'll run his second-ever Boston Marathon, raising funds for Tedy's Team. The goal: raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of stroke, and break the stigma of who can have a stroke. The motto: BE FAST.
If there's one thing you remember today, let it be the common signs of a stroke:
B - Balance difficulties
E - Eyesight changes
F - Face drooping
A - Arm weakness
S - Speech difficulties
T - Time to call 911
BE FAST.

For everyone who donates between now and her 8/7 birthday, we will double your chances in the gift giveaway. 2/$10 donation and 6/$25 donation.
On this Tuesday transformation give this Boston CollegeBoston College - Woods College of Advancing Studies article a read to inspire you to donate: https://lnkd.in/e59ZHJSJ
Here is what your donation dollars have helped to achieve from Executive Director Sarah Porter:
"At the Boston Living Center, we have seen a substantial increase in clients seeking harm-reduction services, and we are actively working to introduce many of these new faces to the full scope of Victory Programs’ offerings.
Some of our recovery programs are seeing a record number of graduating clients, and we were so pleased to recently learn one of our program graduates is now the co-manager of a new sober home in Dorchester. We launched a Recovery Coaching program for our clients headed up by a phenomenal staff member with a history of substance-use disorder. We want to be an agency that cares for people who have yet to be interested in recovery, those actively pursuing it, and those working to maintain it.
And, thanks to your generosity, we just opened Marcella, a new low-threshold housing program for unhoused women. Across all of our low-threshold programs, we are seeing more residents engaged in housing searches and moving into permanent housing than ever before. We continue to scope out new locations to add to our growing portfolio of programs.
Finally, we understand how difficult it is for families to secure housing in Massachusetts. Waitlists for subsidized and affordable housing can take a decade or more, and while we’ve seen a small but significant increase in housing placements in our family shelters, we hope to open new permanent, supportive housing programs specifically for families over the next year."
Thank you for your generosity, kindness and compassion!
Together with other epilepsy charities, we asked the government to include epilepsy as a priority in the Major Conditions strategy.
The response from Department of Health and Social Care - DHSC (http://bit.ly/460isOA) is not good enough and shows once again that the condition and its impact is being ignored.
Please write to your MP using the template from Epilepsy Action at https://lnkd.in/ehAhMqti to ask them to urge the government to reconsider and #MakeEpilepsyAPriority.
