Back in the 80s, I wasn't in Madrid—I was in a different corner of Spain, experiencing the very same explosion of design in my own way. Isn't it fascinating how design has this magical ability to transcend time and geography, connecting us across eras and locations? 🌍✨ 💡 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: The 80s saw an explosion of creativity that reverberated through various forms of design—architecture, fashion, technology, and more. It's almost like the air was charged with innovation, and the spirit of the times pushed boundaries in ways that still inspire us today. 💥🎨 Now, here's where it gets even more captivating: My mind wandered to the 90s, and a similar design explosion took place in the vibrant streets of Barcelona. The city became a playground for avant-garde design, giving birth to some of the most iconic landmarks and creative movements. 🏙️🎭 🎈 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵: While I wasn't physically present during these iconic periods, I can't help but feel a deep connection with the creative energy that defined them. It's a reminder that design is a universal language that transcends time, space, and personal experiences. I visited this very interesting exposition about the neighbourhoods of the American Dream ;the Suburbs. It explains, reflects and questions the vision of how this "ideal" life style would also lead to a happy life.... First only for the upperclass, later the new rolemodel for all Americans, with the big boom after the Vietnamwar, where veterans would get their own neighbourhoods, but only whithes. The effect of this whole movement we know, the empty citycenters of the American towns and its not so happy consequences. The rapid growth of suburbs was driven by the industry through prefabricated houses and company-owned suburbs, drawing parallels with the 19th-century Colonias in Spain and England. The intention was to create garden cities, promoting a healthy lifestyle in contact with nature and the American right to own and defend land. However, this led to urban sprawl, extensive car use, and a negative impact on nature. It also affected a generation of families, primarily women, who were relegated to domestic roles during an economic boom. The exposition encourages reflection on how these images and ideas influence us and perhaps how we can make a mind shift...

🤔How to bring historic buildings back to life? 🏛️Tourbillon Castle, built at the end of the 13th century, is an emblematic monument of 📍Valais #history and #culture. The destiny of the castle is marked by centuries of turbulent history. Today all that remains of the building is an imposing mass of ruins. However, the Valais-Wallis Time Machine Association, accompanied and advised by Patrick Elsig, Director of the Musée d'histoire du Valais, embarked on a reconstruction of the building as it must have been before the fire of 1788.
