Not only are you inspiring yourself, you’re inspiring others
In 2017, Florida linebacker Jeremiah Moon met a young Jacob Long and gave him a pair of cleats. Six years later, Moon plays for the Ravens, and Long is a U.S. Marine — who was part of this past weekend's flyover crew in Baltimore.

Connecting CEO's to Build Power Peer Groups | Vistage Chair | Executive Coach and Mentor | Strategic, Compassionate Leader
"Everyone at my company is a ____________" Last week at my Vistage Worldwide, Inc. meeting at Camp Pendleton with the United States Marine Corps, we learned that "every Marine is a rifleman." No matter your day job in the Marines, everyone is expected to be proficient in marksmanship. They have to maintain their skills by demonstrating proficiency every year. So it doesn’t matter if you are in supply, aviation or sitting at a desk, you are expected to be competent at handling a firearm and prepared to use it. I love how simple and inclusive is this concept. It creates a cultural expectation. It sets standards. It creates fraternity that we are all in this together because we all do the same thing. At my previous company--where we created custom etched wine gifts--everyone was a box maker. Everyone was expected to be competent at making shipping boxes. Whenever we got surge orders that had to ship, it was expected for everyone to jump in and help as necessary. It wasn't often, but it did happen and when it did, we were all in it together and we made it happen, as a team. What is the common expectation that everyone does in your company? What's the impact? #vistage #sandiegobusiness #ceoleadership #culture

Thank you Joe Pompliano for these excellent posts. Between this post and the one you shared breaking down the stats and the impact of college football in the little town of Odessa in Texas, I am now thoroughly convinced that many countries are missing out on the immense opportunities that flow from tertiary/university or college sports notably football. I came up with some positive knock on effects: Sports tourism boost - 40,000 people flew in from the USA just to watch the games. 😳😳😳😳That is a massive number of spectators to fly in for any games by any standard. But of course we all know there’s a long history between the states and Ireland. The Irish American community is a massive community for the Irish college games to tap into. Sports infrastructure boost; clearly there is a need to keep developing infrastructure to accommodate more college games and equally increase participation also. If you build it they will surely use it. Private sector investment boost - more PE firms are looking to diversify from tech, agric and finance and what better sector than sport. Skills development - it goes without saying that the direct positive impact will be on the college students themselves . Get more youth adequately trained and engaged the better the gains that society will reap in decades to come. Helps relieve pressure on traditional courses as students have more opportunities to choose from. Job creation - creation of 1000s of jobs whether part time or full time directly or indirectly to support the local economy in the sport entertainment and media industries. All those spectators need to be fed , insured, watered and entertained and their rights likely protected too😉 All the above together spin a Positive image for the competing Colleges not to mention Ireland 🇮🇪 using the power of sport as a tool for diplomacy won’t you agree? and of course all the wonderful media content you and I will read online and the beat goes on and on….. Nearly 40,000 fans traveled from the United States to Dublin for Saturday's college football game between Notre Dame and Navy. Most of them (32,000) were cheering for Notre Dame. And it represents the largest number of Americans traveling internationally for a single sporting event. Notre Dame remains a massive brand, even as an independent school.
