As we track the 2024 logistics hiring market, here's a few trends we're finding... - #Sales talent remains in high demand for most #freightforwarders - California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee/Alabama are particularly hot - Sales experience in healthcare, medical, tech, and semiconductor verticals are highly valued in All US markets - Account Mgmt, Leadership, and Operations opportunities remain more limited than Sales - However they are sharply trending up from last year, and our southeastern US states seem to be leading the demand - Some forwarders and brokers report seeing volume growth now in Q2, while a majority expect their volumes to return circa Q3 Overall, I see two of the top ten forwarders playing true offense right now. They win consistently because they train & execute consistently. Their efforts will snowball, and the results of their investments will only set them further ahead over the coming years. I joined SiLo about 4 months ago as a Partner Solutions Coordinator and without a doubt it has been the best decision I’ve made so far in my career. If you’ve never had a job where you can actually see how your day-to-day activities feed into a larger mission or where you can see and hear from your partners how much easier their lives are because of the work you put in, you can so easily feel as if your work doesn’t matter. If you feel this way, you will burn out, if you haven’t already. I know how this feels and it’s rough. You feel as if the hours, days, weeks, months, and years you’re feeding to a company don’t matter, that you’re wasting your time and your life. You start to feel trapped. This will inevitably impact not only you but those around you. I’ve been there. My experience at SiLo has been the complete opposite. From day 1, you know what the mission is and you know how you will fit into it. You can see how each daily task you do feeds into a larger mission AND you get to understand, from your partners’ perspective, of why these tasks and details are so important. This instills purpose and meaningfullness into each process and task. Each and every manager I’ve worked with whole-heartedly buys into the mission and it shows in their interactions with their direct reports, their coaching and mentoring, and creates an orienting source for all of us to return to and refocus on. Moreover, I’ve never seen quite a level of transparency in a leadership team like I’ve seen at SiLo. This creates trust, instills a sense of ownership in the company to all employees, and provides stability to employees in turbulent times. Logistics is a wild and constantly changing industry and leadership can make all the difference in establishing a lasting company culture and maintaining morale through changing seasons. Also, it’s just fun. It’s hard work and can get stressful just like most jobs, but the company, values, mission, coworkers, and work itself make it fun and rewarding. I can’t recommend SiLo enough! #silo #simple #logistics
