As we close out #AAPIHeritageMonth I reflect upon the inspiring and insightful #DEI event that the Cargill Asian Alliance Network hosted for an engaging cultural learning experience. Special shoutout 👏🏽 to Kimberly Luong and Julia Ostlund for all the hard work, time, energy, and leadership you put into organizing this event! Sharing some of my key takeaways from the outstanding pannelists Rishi Varma, Dr. Sarah-SoonLing Blackburn, and David Mura: 🌎 Different is a good thing! 🙅🏻♀️Interrupt "Executive Presence" Bias - let's rethink what this means, challenge the "standard" of what we mean. 💡Creativity doesn't come from sameness - it comes from more ideas, more knowledge. 🇺🇸 Greatness of America is the diversity of our culture. 📈Company growth relies on diverse ideas, groups, especially as a global company - sameness will not help us. 🧠 Leverage the diversity around us to build a better brain. 🌟 Cultivate curiosity. 🎬 Call to Action: • Be aware when you are having a judgmental thought of difference - different is simply different, check your value judgements. • Allys need to Actively "Echo" to advocate for others.
