Canadians understand how important their local government is - when it works well and when it doesn’t. Because our city halls are closest to communities they serve, they are critical to our health, safety and resilience. It’s time to shift our governance in Canada to put our resources where they matter most to Canadians. So yes, local governments need to get better at engaging citizens in authentic ways but we also need to ensure that our taxes are going to local governments so they can better meet the needs of residents.
