One challenge that every human faces is being biased. Every bias can be caused by different factors like environment or past experiences. Over time each person's bias can change depending on events that might happen or if someone's influenced online or by others around them. Depending on where you are from people might treat certain people or groups in different ways. For example you might grow up with a group of football players and they treat everyone less than them, so you have a bias against any football player that you meet and be more cautious around them. Everyone needs to be aware if they are partaking in an In group / out group bias. This involves the idea of treating others that are like you more fairly compared to people who are different from you ,this video goes more into detail about it https://lnkd.in/dR5MucXK The reason why this bias is so powerful is because of how many participate in it all the time. In any community you are going to have people or groups click together and treat each other better than they would treat others. They might even go to the extreme to be mean or disrespectful to people who aren't like them. #InGroupOutGroup No Matter how hard you try not to be biased it will be impossible to completely prevent it. So it's most important to understand that it's an issue and trying your best to prevent it. #CognitiveBias @HeleanaTheixos @AdamWilliamson

Beauty has been variously portrayed as both a blessing and a curse. For the ancient Greeks, ‘beauty’ and ‘virtue’ were inseparable - meaning that beauty was never merely ‘skin deep’. If you are interested in the ‘Ethics of … Beauty’, then we have a treat for you this Thursday night. Come along in person, or watch online, as philosopher, Sam Schpall, discusses this evergreen topic with author, Tara Rae Moss: https://lnkd.in/gs3sJaUn

"Knee-jerk social media posts are not what bother me most, though. Instead, it’s the idea that not posting is wrong somehow — that everyone needs to speak, all the time. It discourages shutting up and listening and letting the voices that matter the most be heard over the din. It implies it’s not OK to have any uncertainty about what’s going on or any kind of moral analysis that does not lend itself to presentation in a social media post. It does not leave time or space for people to process traumatic events in the sanctuary of their own minds or to gather more information before pronouncing a judgment. It pressures people who don’t have an opinion yet or are working out what they think to manufacture one and present it to a jury of total strangers on the internet who will render an instant verdict on its propriety.....Are these opinions helpful? Useful? Interesting? And if so, to whom?" (https://lnkd.in/g4wJWpHs Spiers) Two excellent reminders-below from Inman and above quoted from the NY Times, that religion, politics, and personal opinions that offer naught to your business transactions are best kept to oneself or discussed privately with friends, family and confidants. Do as you will, live as you will, and vote as you will. For real estate this means not violating Fair Housing and other laws. For employers of all kinds: discrimination, safety, and other employment laws are foremost. #realestate #realestatebroker #socialmedia #propriety
