15 years ago, we opened The High Line - transforming a 1930s-era elevated rail line into a public park. It immediately became both a local treasure and global sensation - and it remains a testament to the power of public-private partnerships to make cities better.
Thank you is too small a word.
We need something like this on the east side!
I love the Highline in an almost unreasonable way. For me it is: Transit corridor Refuge (in so many ways, and, on a hot day…the breeze it catches is transformative) Live Cultural experience (many) Breakfast, lunch and dinner venue (or adjacent) Nature walk Art walk People watching venue History lesson We need more re-envisioned urban space across all the communities in America and the Highline is a wonderful blueprint.
An incredible project and cross-sector achievement.
A Chelsea resident 15 years previous, I'd ride my bike on the delapidated and dangerous rail. Youth can be stupid. Still in Chelsea when the park opened and married by then, the park became a sublime getaway for me and my new family. Just one of the marvelous things you did for the city.
Hello Mayor Bloomberg it also made NYC a tech hub with Big Tech of Alphabet, Meta, Apple, Amazon, Twitter, IAC and Disney all located in and around High Line with your vision of NYC becoming a tech juggernaut. Thank you Mayor Bloomberg & Happy Fathers Day.
I’ve had the honor of working at the High Line with an incredible team for 8 years. So very glad you chose to save it. Thank you for all you’ve done for the city, public space, and for urban industrial reuse projects across the country and beyond.
In my opinion, the High Line was/is a huge success. I'd like to see us do the same thing with our transit system here in NYC: Disband the MTA and set up a public-private partnership to run the subways; Free To All Riders! Imagine if Musk or Bezos ran our subways. We'd have a first class transit system! How about it Mike?
Thank you for providing this beautiful and historical park for our city to enjoy.
