Research by the British Business Bank found: 1️⃣ Black entrepreneurs are more likely than any other ethnic group to get their business idea from a personal hobby or a job 2️⃣ Black entrepreneurs are most likely to start a business because they want to do something for their community 3️⃣ The median turnover for Black British businesses is £25,000; with £17,000 for Black African entrepreneurs - the lowest of any ethnic group Direct To Culture was created to support Black British entrepreneurs on how to best leverage the internet to grow their businesses to 6-8 figures in revenue, and therefore have a greater impact in their communities and wider economy. Timothy Armoo is speaking at this year’s Direct To Culture event on how to build businesses to sell. Black digital entrepreneurs are winning! The findings of our BLADE survey underscore the potential of Black digital entrepreneurs, not only in establishing successful businesses but also in contributing significantly to narrowing the racial wealth gap. 84% of respondents reported a positive net worth. This is most likely driven by their digital businesses considering the vast majority of those surveyed (73%) do not have a second stream of income or a second job, and they are paying themselves (72%). Three-fourths of respondents say that they live comfortably. At BIA, we will continue to support and provide resources to Black entrepreneurs because business success is a powerful tool for equity and progress for Black people.
