School's back in session where I live, and buzz on local social media is about the technology requirements for kids today. Back to school for 6-12 can require a student to have: + laptop with a protective bag + smartphone + debit or credit card + A good data plan or solid wifi + Social media presence + A basic understanding of cybersecurity + Basic knowledge of digital research + Data backup protection + Endpoint protection solution to prevent ransomware and attacks + An identity-theft protection plan, ideally with credit monitoring + Password manager or a way to coordinate and secure them + Power converters, chargers, and external batteries + New this year: using A.I. prompts for good, not plagiarism + A waterbottle, because keeping track of all this is exhausting so it is vital to stay hydrated We've come a long way from having a new set of folders and college-ruled 8.5x11 paper. It seems easy to dismiss this all as socially overloading students and lament for days when things were "easy" and "simple" (which they never were). Here's the thing- as adults in the working world, you also need all these things for your job. Teaching kids about how technology works is only part of the future. We have to teach them to manage it all as well. That starts with our example. As a leader in the workplace, do you have a solid plan for helping your people navigate our complicated digital world?
