𝙒𝙝𝙤'𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙉𝙐𝙈𝘽𝙀𝙍 𝙊𝙉𝙀? Hey all! Here's something fun to start the week and remind us of the importance of 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣𝗦 and 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦! Tag your your first connection on LinkedIn! When did you connect with them? What's your favorite memory of that person? How did they impact your career? I'll start: Dale Simmons Connected 9/28/2004 Dale and I worked together 2004-2005. "Challenging" doesn't begin to describe our jobs. No company strategy other than quarterly layoffs, a recruiting budget so small that we envied companies who could afford the shoestring for the "shoestring" budget, and recruiting standards rivaling top research organizations. (Luckily much of that changed over the years) Despite those challenges, Dale always had a smile and found ways to make work feel a bit less like "work", while pushing for results and helping us find great engineering talent. Had it not been for Dale, I'm pretty sure I would have left recruiting many years ago. #relationships #connectionsmatter

💔 Hearing about the recent layoffs at Indeed again has left me truly saddened. To everyone impacted by this decision, please know that you're not alone. The feelings of heartache, confusion, and fear are undoubtedly overwhelming. In times like these, its crucial to give yourself the space to process and breathe. Let yourself feel every emotion; healing takes time. One thing that helped me navigate through such shocking news last year was reaching out to my network. Don't hesitate to be vulnerable and put yourself out there. If you see a role that aligns with your interests, reach out directly to the hiring team. Explore if you have mutual connections at the company; a referral can make a world of a difference. It might require effort, but trust me, things will eventually fall into place. Remember you're not alone on this journey. If you need assistance with your resume or simply need someone to talk to, I'm just a phone call away. Our peers on LinkedIn who are job searching right now are going through: ❌ Financial insecurity ❌ Loss of identity/purpose ❌ Lack of structure ❌ Competition ❌ Confidence loss ❌ Emotional toll Many of them are doing it alone. There are things we can collectively do to support them on this journey to What's Next! ✅ Remind them their value isn't defined by their employment status.  Share their job search posts on your feed ✅ Connect them with others in your network ✅ Provide mental and emotional support to even one person through this process ✅ Share positive encouragement and validate the person's skills and abilities. ✅ Invite them to networking events to help build connections and get back out there. ✅ Share articles / resources that could help in the job search process. ✅ Send them over to my job seeker community to network and connect with others going through the journey to What's Next. “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿” 😯 I was speaking to an experienced professional who had been struggling to land her next role She was telling me how the more recent layoffs from big companies meant bad news for everyone else. This is because more people are now looking for work who also have more recent job experience. Whilst this is true I reminded her that none of this is in our control. So focusing on this does not actually help us land our next role. I then reminded her of some of the amazing things she had already done and the value she could bring to her next role.
