Alright, so this is something very new for me. A lot of you know I like to spend my quiet time brainstorming to see what else is out there, possibilities that exist and sometimes even trying to put together a little POC to see if it is worth exploring further. Well, while I'm in this off time, I have discovered I got a little bored (A LOT BORED) and I want to try doing some experimentation to see if anything is worth spinning out into something bigger. But while I do this, I want to not be so alone while I do it, so I started a Substack that is going to do a breakdown of week over week what I'm working on. I also want to have polls about some of the decisions that need to be made so that everyone can be involved and we can see where this goes together. If you feel like you want to join along, I encourage you to check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gQV5z-Vf I'm not sure where this will specifically go, but I think building in public is something that should be done a bit more often. It's a lot more fun. Here's a hint on what the first project will be: Streamlining the application process to allow individuals to make their case before getting screened out. Let's build something fun. #buildinpublic #tech #startups
This is such a unique idea, I love it! Writing has been a great outlet for me over the last year and just as a general way to work through thoughts and ideas!
Good call to use your downtime in this way, Mikayla! I think it's a great platform for sharing and building your community. And I like how writing gives so much clarity to your life both in work and personal! PS - your pup is AH-dorable! 🐕
Congrats on launching this! I love using downtime to explore things I might not otherwise have time for - community-building is something I focused on during some downtime at the end of last year (that turned out to be such a worthwhile investment), and writing is something I go back to again and again. I'm excited to follow along as you explore!
Congrats on starting this project! There's so much value in building in public.
Yes, Mikayla! You're always leveling up and experimenting with new ways to grow in your craft; looking forward to having a front-row seat to see where this takes you next.
There’s always something so excited about beginnings 🥹 congrats!!! I’ll be following along!

2wLove this! During my down time, I set a goal to have 100 coffee chats which turned into 200+. I learnt so much about myself from early chats. I narrowed down what I wanted to do next. The next series I did market research with my dream segment which resulted in me starting my business. I'm still building from that learning. And, I still continue to do coffee chats. Using our 'down time' to do the things that bring us joy and steer the ship in the 'right' direction is so powerful! Go you!
