I always wanted to do this. Adam Horne and I were inspired earlier in the year working with the legendary Jessica Z. and Luke O'Mahoney on the 24 hour Pod and we decided to bring some of that magic into our community. We had a thread in our slack community spark about the age old conundrum for startup people leaders: "How do I enable an effective people manager community when most of my managers are first time managers?" So... we thought it'd be a great opportunity to run our first community hackathon around this theme! How it's going to work: Day 1: Kick-Off 👉 We'll have a kick-off call where we will align on goals and sketch out the build. We'll record this for folks who can't make it and share on Youtube too. Day 2-4: Build In Public 👉 Over 5 days(ish), folks can contribute to the build on Notion async via comments or action 👉 We'll have a mid-way check-in if needed Day 5: Demo Day! 👉 We'll take a pause point, beautify what we've built and ship our mini-product publicly together to the broader people community. I'm excited for this, I love the idea of a small group of folks coming together to solve a problem, share the process out loud and then publish the final product to the broader community.
