----🥼Medical Monday🥼---- There are some general guidelines to follow after your hip surgery that will help with the recovery process. Always speak to your medical team regarding your specific needs. 1. Fall-proof your house- To ensure a safe recovery, it’s important to make sure that your home is safe and easy to move around in. Clear your walkways of clutter. Get rid of throw rugs or secure them to the floor with adhesive. 2. Don't be afraid to ask for help- It’s important that you don’t push yourself too hard. You need to heal without putting unnecessary stress on your joints. Be honest with yourself and with whoever will be caring for you about when you need assistance. 3. Be gentle with yourself- Don’t push yourself too hard at first. At first, you may need supportive devices like a walker or cane to move around safely. Try to not cross your legs and do not bend the angle of your hips too far. Instead, use an elevated seat and sleep with a pillow between the legs. 4. Practice bathroom safety- Installing grab bars near and around the bath and shower area adds stability and helps prevent falls. To make using the toilet safe, adding a raised toilet seat helps reduce the distance you have to bend, making getting up and down easier. Using a bath bench or shower seat can provide extra security against falls and helping reduce standing fatigue. 5. Move as much as you can- It is very important that you begin light activity as soon as possible to help strengthen your muscles, encourage blood flow, and decrease fluid build-up.

Do you have daily headaches and sore TMJs (jaw joints)? If so, Sunrise Orthodontics in Reston may be able to help. Dr. Liliana Calkins has implemented a new technology, known as the MLS Dental Laser, (ASA Laser, Italy), which can help in the reduction of pain and inflammation for headache and TMJ sufferers. MLS® Laser Therapy decisively accelerates relief of the symptoms caused by TMJ problems. Estimates suggest that TMJ dysfunction affects over 10 million Americans; the conditions seem to be more common in women than men (National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research). A survey of neurologists found that up to one-third of all patients consulted because of headache – more than for any other complaint (WHO, Factsheet 277, March 2004). Oftentimes, migraines and other severe headaches are the result of inflammation due to dysfunctions of the TMJs or temporomandibular joints. If you have frequent headaches and would like to discuss a treatment option, contact Dr. Liliana Calkins of Sunrise Orthodontics at 703-476-3969 today. #SunriseOrthodontics #AirwayAndSleepGroup #DynamicOrthodontics #HealthySmiles #Orthodontics #SleepSolutions #SleepHealth #Dental #Oralhealth #FamilyHealth #HealthTips #EmpoweredSleep #Orthodontics #Sleepapnea #ComprehensiveOrthodontics #DentalAirway #SleepMedicin #OrthoAirway

Join us as we dive deep into the fascinating connection between TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) and Fibromyalgia. 🧠💤 Did you know that your jaw might be the key to unlocking better sleep and managing Fibromyalgia symptoms? 💡 Here's a sneak peek: When your TMJ flares up, your brain sends signals to your jaw muscles, urging them to clench down. Why? To create a more open airway! 😮 This can be a game-changer for those dealing with airway restrictions or impeding syndromes, potentially explaining the sleep struggles that often accompany Fibromyalgia. But there's more to this puzzle than meets the eye! It takes a team of experts, including oral maxillary facial surgeons, ENT doctors, dentists, and orthodontists, to piece it all together. 🤝🔍 Don't miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Fibromyalgia and explore innovative solutions at our conference. 📚🔬 Click the link in our bio for more information! Let's uncover the mysteries of Fibromyalgia together.
