Extremely excited to announce Tandem Health's $9.5M seed round led by Northzone! I made a promise to myself when I upon graduation chose the "traditional" path of management consultancy. The promise was that I would not get too comfortable, and that I would dare take risk when I felt the opportunity was right. With the release of ChatGPT, I became convinced that we were on the cusp of the largest technological shift of our lifetime. The timing to pursue my entrepreneurial dream simply felt perfect - not only in terms of technological potential (in a field I happen to love), but also regarding where I was in my career, in my personal life, and finding amazing co-founders. So soon one year ago, I delivered on that promise to found Tandem Health. It feels surreal to have now gone from Tandem being an idea in our minds - to actually being a proper company with an actual office (after spending our first 6 months in my living room), an incredible team, a product that is loved by users, and now also wonderful investors with us to enable us to deliver on our bold vision. We are setting out to revolutionize healthcare, an industry that is deeply broken in terms of what clinicians actually spend their time on. It is simply not sustainable that clinicians should spend >40% of their time on admin, and that 9 out of 10 doctors state they are unable to finish their administrative tasks during working hours. If nothing is done, we will not be able to keep current healthcare standards with our aging population. To help fix this, we are building a clinician copilot. Clinicians across >50 care organizations are now using it every day to write medical notes based on their patient consultations. It is insane how much energy I get from hearing user stories on how Tandem is making a positive impact in their lives. From psychiatrists describing how they used to spend 1-2 hours every evening on writing medical notes and now have gotten their evenings back, to an 83-year old doctor with excitement telling us how this is the first new product he has adopted in over a decade. Mistral AI an OpenAI Rival in Europe, which has recently started generating revenue, is in talks to raise capital at a $5 Billion valuation. Details about the specific investors Mistral has engaged with for this new funding round are currently unclear. Among its existing investors are Andreessen Horowitz, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Microsoft the latter having also invested significantly in OpenAI but with a larger capital commitment. It is clear that this is no longer just an industrial battle but a clash to occupy a strategic area at both continental and global levels. Not having proprietary technology in this sector is equivalent to experiencing a gap similar to what we have recently seen in the energy sector. It means depending on exporting countries, where the price for our productivity depends on third parties. 🌟 #MeetTheTeam 🌟  Introducing our co-founder Nathan Gruber.    What motivated you to found Datagon AI and what are your intentions?  💡 I have been asked this question over and over by my family, friends, customers, and investors in the past few months and I keep asking myself the same thing.     🚗 My journey started at BMW Group, where I was pleasantly surprised by the tremendous added value I could create with my #AI expertise in the production of cars. Initially, I thought about developing a specialized solution for the discovered use case and seeing where the journey would take me. However, I very soon realized that there is more to successfully building a company than just developing software. Besides the usual entrepreneurial activities, such as recruiting or fundraising, we had lots of discussions with potential customers and ultimately recognized a pattern: almost all industrial companies are currently asking themselves how to establish AI in their production processes in a way that creates real economic added value and goes beyond pretty diagrams and evaluations.    ✨ At this point, my perspective on our company and vision changed. I believe we are at a point where the industry has tremendous leverage towards #sustainability and at the same time suffers from a serious #Fachkräftemangel. With #Qualitatio, we want to offer our customers a trustworthy #AI system that counteracts the shortage of skilled workers, can make a serious contribution to sustainability by reducing scrap and wear, and creates measurable, economic added value from day one.    🏭 Over the past few months, I have been repeatedly surprised by the sheer size of the German industrial landscape. After having spoken with and come to appreciate many people, I am deeply convinced of the capabilities of our industry and keen to play my part in making the German industry future-proof and keep it globally competitive.    ❤️ I am particularly grateful for the outstanding support of my environment, which encourages me, gives me strength, and exemplifies change. In particular, I would like to highlight the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM), where I am surrounded by young people who not only want to change the world for the better but are actually working on it every day. The young generation there is hands-on, courageous and willing to take risks.
