Sadness and anxiety aren't bad. They are only trying to help us. The CBT Center partnered with some of our favorite colleagues at the Navesink Psychological Services and North Star Family Autism Center to host a private screening of Pixar Animation Studios's Inside Out 2 at our old stomping ground, Rutgers University and we are all gathering our insights and thoughts about this amazing movie that depicts emotions, sense of self, and all that it involves. As a behavior scientist and clinical psychologist who specializes in all things #CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), especially acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), I particularly love the messaging that ALL EMOTIONS serve a purpose. Anxiety says "My job is to protect her from the scary stuff she can't see... I plan for the future." We all need a little anxiety in our lives. It helps mobilize us and keep us on track. And, too much of any good thing can get us in trouble. What did you take away from Inside Out 2? What did you learn about emotions? What did you wish you knew as a teenager? #insideout #pixar #insideout2 #wellbeing #emotions #rutgerscinema Matthew Strobel Kate Fiske

I truly loved the movie Michelle Drapkin, PhD ABPP ! For me, a bit more philosophical in that, while anxiety was necessary in the beginning of all the ‘change’, it took joy out of the picture. And, until there became a balance of joy, anxiety, anger, sadness, envy, disgust, with a pinch of boredom; and embarrassment pulling the winning moves, did things begin to fall into place at the end. Obviously, I loved the movie!!
