Visiting, tasting, sharing stories, and having an embodied experience as an investor brings insights that don't show up in spreadsheets. Our recent visit with Justin Schwartz, CFA at the production plant of CUSI World, a #BCorp that turns superfoods into gluten-free products, provided me with invaluable insights as an investor. Seeing the process firsthand, meeting the dedicated workers, and tasting the final products brought the investment to life in a way that spreadsheets and reports cannot. It highlighted the real-world impact and stakes involved—putting faces and flavors to what an investment truly means. This experience reinforced the importance of understanding the human and tangible elements behind every financial decision. Investing isn't just about numbers; it's about supporting innovation and improving lives. One of the aspects that made the visit particularly interesting was the fellow visitors who arrived: other ecosystem players (Julio De la Calle, Asociación Nacional de Fabricantes de Alimentos y Bebidas (ANFAB) Nutresa ) that have come together to support the founders María Fernanda Illánez and Jose Luis Quintero grow and thrive. In the case of #SOCAPOpen, which accounts for 1/3 of our content, organizing a transparent, fair, and accountable process is a labor of love for the community because it ensures that diverse voices are heard and valued. This approach fosters inclusivity, empowers participants, and builds trust through clear decision-making and communication. In the background, the team reviews every single submission, prepares it, organizes it, categorizes and updates, responds to every query and corrects any typos to give everyone a fair chance. Their friends, colleagues and networks voted for them. Council members set aside their agendas to give them their full focus. This commitment to fairness and transparency reflects a deep respect and love for the people who make the community vibrant and meaningful. 🌟 This was an extremely competitive edition of SOCAP Open. With Over 400 submissions from across the world, only 4% of sessions were selected.
