Reid Hoffman, Co-Founder of LinkedIn did an AI generated version of himself. It was super interesting and kind of even scary to watch how the real and the AI generated Reid interacted. . My takeaway was the “the real Reid" states that AI is "a cognitive Industrial Revolution. It's a steam engine of the mind now.” Meaning that AI is a transformative impact of the current era on our cognitive abilities, comparing it to the Industrial Revolution. He focuses on mental capabilities instead of physical machinery and acknowledges that while many of us will adapt easily to these changes, others will struggle or be unable to adapt. NOTE: This cannot be understated. It is a collective responsibility (other team members, leaders, managers etc) to support those who face difficulties adjusting to this new cognitive landscape. We are all in this together.

Today was good. 1. I grappled through several disagreements with someone I deeply respect. This made us think harder about our convictions, revealing much clearer truths about how we can and must do better. 2. Then I met with another consummate professional who confirmed murky realities and encouraged me to fill a gaping void in the industry. 3. I learned a brilliant skill for reframing an uncomfortable statement. (I'd never realised it before and have inadvertently and unintentionally upset people.) Next time I say something uncomfortable I'll frame it as a question. "I wonder if there's a more contemporary perspective on that?" rather than "I'm concerned it's an outdated notion." 4. I also tried LinkedIn's Rewrite with AI feature for this post. It turned it into perfect prose, totally lacking any substance. That experience again confirmed that AI stands for Average Intelligence. I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Biotechnology Sales & Marketing Executive | Team leadership & Development | Global Commercial Leadership | Strategic Brand Planning | Life Cycle Management | Product Launch | Brand Leadership | Business Planning
With the explosion of AI in the zeitgeist lately I’ve been a bit obsessed thinking about the changes this could bring to Biotech and specifically the commercial space. Like most of us, I’ve played with it a bit and the results have been…. underwhelming. Lots of mistakes and a general feeling of “Yada, Yada, Yada”. The potential is immense but the nature of it will always require a human hand (and brain) to guide it. Hopefully. 😊 A few things the authors of this article (”3 Human Super Talents AI Will Not Replace” by Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic and Reece Akhtar) note about our role in relation to AI: 1) Curiosity – Explore all of the platforms and try them out. Ask them to touch up your resume to make it more action oriented (takes about 10 seconds), or ask them to write a LinkedIn post (Is this me or ChatGPT?), or ask them to align your resume to the key words in a job description you’re interested in (guilty). Most of these are relatively mundane tasks which are well suited to Generative AI’s current capabilities. 2) Humility – Don’t let AI take the wheel. Ask yourself if you’re really interested in that video, or is the auto-populated phrase it’s suggesting is really what you want to say. 3) Demonstrate Emotional Intelligence – Something AI can’t do (yet) which makes us human and effective leaders. Focus on others, deal with conflict, or in other words; just be human! Most importantly, have fun with it. It’s an amazing tool!

"AI" DOES NOT HAVE YOUR HUMAN CAPABILITY. IT DOES NOT HAVE A "RIGHT BRAIN". ** AI draws from historical data. **You have the capacity to innovate, to create and to imagine. ** We have been sold a story that we are either "left brain" or "right brain". The reality is that we can be what we choose to be. ** AI is here to do the menial things we no longer need to do, so we can create. This is where awareness, choice, and being intentionally conscious comes into play. 90% of your prospects will never interact with you. They just look. No likes. No words. Think about: -How will they learn how you grew up and got into AI? -How will they know you got stronger after tough times? -How will they see how good you are at helping others with AI? Remember: -Watching matters: They see your journey. -Share a lot: Tell your story many times. -Show them 7 times: They need to see it a lot before they react. Fact: Only a few of your friends see what you post. Tips: -Keep trying, no easy way. -Share regularly. -Have a plan. Hard parts: -Wondering if sharing again is okay. -Worrying it feels too pushy. -Waiting for results. Keep going, be clear, and be real. That's how you succeed.

Harvard Psychologist | Founder at Center for Anxiety | Public Speaker | Author of "Thriving with Anxiety: 9 Tools to Make Your Anxiety Work for You" (HarperCollins, October 17, 2023)
If you've been scrolling down social media the past few months you'll have probably seen an abundance of posts about the latest developments in AI. I've had a few comments recently about the anxiety people are experiencing because of this! And I totally get it. AI is moving seriously fast. Most probably could not have imagined the technology we are witnessing come out, with new advancements happening daily. So how does one deal with anxiety related to AI, and the possibility that this could upend the economy and lead to job loss? Let's face it, the economic concern is not insignificant. This could cost thousands, tens of thousands, maybe even more of jobs to the economy. But if we look at the history of the technological revolution and the industrial revolution before that, what we have seen is a proliferation of economic and other opportunities with greater development over time. The more that we can leverage technology to improve our lives, to improve our communication, to improve our knowledge, the more opportunities it has created for human beings. Whats to say the AI revolution we are seeing won't mimic this? I believe this is an incredible opportunity to establish our unique place in the world and create new opportunities that we never could have expected at this point in history. Perhaps it is the time for us to explore the traits that make us uniquely human? I'm optimistic, but the truth is, nobody really knows, and I do think we have to tolerate that uncertainty and the unknown, because we're human, and that's just the way it is. #AI #anxiety #revolution #worry #jobs #thrivingwithanxiety

Thinking AI is too tricky for you? 🤔That's what I thought too! But here's the truth... When I first tried using AI at work... I was majorly overwhelmed. I thought... "This tech stuff is for smarter people - not me!" But once I took a deep breath and just tried small simple tasks with AI... ..a lightbulb went off! I realized AI isn't just for tech geniuses. It can work for anyone willing to start small and learn. Now AI helps me get way more done and offer cool new solutions for clients. But I had to overcome that initial intimidation first. As the old sayings say... "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." So don't psych yourself out thinking AI is too hard. Just try one basic workout - I promise it'll click! Trust me... it's not as scary as it seems. Give it a go - the future wants you! 🤖 PS: if you want to explore these, check out the carousel I made in the comments below.

"Will the new AI tools we’ve all heard so much about eliminate your job prospects before you even get started? Don’t worry too much. You can have a meaningful, exciting, and even creative career. But in order to succeed and stand out from your peers, you’ll need to learn how to leverage these new tools and cultivate these three skills that machines can’t replace. Curiosity: Don’t let AI make you boring, biased, predictable, or narrow-minded. Get curious and invest the time to learn how you can offload boring tasks onto AI. But don’t fall into an AI-driven routine. Use AI tools to inspire you and make you more inquisitive about the world beyond them. Humility: Don’t let AI undermine your self-awareness. Start by getting to know the real you. Ask yourself: What behaviors come most naturally to me? What inspires me? What gets in my way? Then, ask others for feedback. AI is incredibly good at adapting and accepting feedback — you should be too. Ask others what you should start doing, stop doing, and keep doing. Emotional Intelligence: Don’t forget what it means to be human. Your ability to build connections, practice empathy, and communicate effectively (your emotional intelligence) matters more than ever. Before sharing an opinion or making a decision, pause and think about your teammates. Are you working in service of the team’s goals, or your own? To avoid conflict, be extra attentive when communicating digitally. Digital communication often leads to impulsive, cold, and antisocial exchanges whereby conflict emerges." #ai #artificialintelligence #humanity #talents #emotionalintelligence

Endorsing Body for the Revised Innovator Visa routes - We help people build successful innovative & scalable businesses in the UK
My Friday thoughts - Will AI really threaten all of our jobs? My personal opinion, is that 90% of the population are Neurotypical and that comes with a high degree of predictability. Like a lot of music, films, tv programmes, meals, etc if you follow a simple set of instructions and you’re onto a winner for the masses. But, life will always be the same bar minor discrepancies and cycles. That’s what AI does - it looks at data sets and produces what it thinks you want based on history. But that’s where those of us who think in a more Neurodivergent manner come in - for example, your typical founders of innovation-driven ventures. We are often driven by disruption, particularly where that disruption is unpredictable or demands significant shifts. Over time, these new changes become supported by early adopters, and in no time the masses see this, and what was new becomes the norm. Everyone copies the idea, and this then becomes the mass choice. That's why progress and evolution is dependent upon disruption, which itself is dependent upon innovators. Without disruption, everything remains the same or a cycle based on history. Disruptors are required to drive to change and keep evolution going. AI may dislodge and threaten the masses, but the future is driven by creative disruptors. Happy Friday, keep innovating!
