EIC Fund Fuels Deep Tech Dreams 🚀 In 2023's opening quarter, the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund soared to Europe's top venture capital spot, investing big in pioneering startups. Since 2020, €1.407 billion has empowered 268 deep-tech projects, from biotech to energy. 147 firms are already on board, accelerating their innovative journeys. After a 2022 revamp, the fund injected €786 million into 128 investments, wiping out equity investment hurdles. Complementing €2.5 million EIC Accelerator grants, the fund offers equity investments (up to €15 million). A vital lifeline for European startups, managed by AlterDomus Management Company S.A. with EIB's rigor. 2023's Accelerator offers €1.13 billion, spotlighting next-gen tech, energy storage, quantum leaps, agriculture, cancer solutions, and space tech. The Italian #spacetech startup Kurs Orbital, incubated in I3P - Innovative Companies Incubator of Politecnico Torino and part of ESA BIC Turin, has raised €3.7 million in seed #funding to bring its innovative solutions to the in-orbit services and logistics market. The round was led by leading European deeptech VC firm OTB Ventures, and joined by Credo Ventures, Galaxia | Polo Nazionale di Trasferimento Tecnologico dell'Aerospazio, In-Q-Tel (IQT), and Inovo.vc. Galaxia is the Italian national technology transfer hub for #aerospace supported by CDP Venture Capital SGR together with Obloo Ventures and the regional co-investment fund Piemonte Next, managed by CDP Venture Capital and supported by Finpiemonte S.p.A. The start-up aims to democratise in-orbit servicing solutions including space debris removal, #satellite relocation, de-orbiting and inspections, by providing reliable and cost efficient #rendezvous and docking technology. The seed funding will propel Kurs Orbital towards the completion of its first flight model, allowing for faster integrated testing and team expansions, with the intention to become the leading provider in this platform technology. #Startups, here are some fresh #funds that might be interesting for you: 🚀 The largest European early-stage deep tech fund to date has been closed by Munich-based VC Vsquared Ventures, securing €214 million. The fund targets six generational growth themes: AI & next-gen software, #energy transition, new #computing and #sensing, new #space, #robotics and #manufacturing and bio-tech. 🚀 Wind, an emerging European VC just closed the first €90 million. The fund will finance pioneering sustainable #deeptech startups at the #Seed / #SeriesA stage. The fund plans to invest in 30 startups, with the ticket sizes varying from €500 to €5 million. 🚀 London-based Episode 1 Ventures just closed a €88.8 million fund to back early-stage B2B startups. The team will be investing between £250k and £3 million in pre-seed and seed-stage startups, primarily based in the #UK, focusing on key areas such as #AI, #BioTech, #opensource, #software infrastructure, #ealthtech, and #marketplaces. 🚀 Madrid-based Kfund secured €70 million for sixth fund focusing on Southern Europe high #impact-startups; the ticket size ranging from €100k to €10 million. 🚀 Milan-based VC Italian Founders Fund raised €50 million for seed and #PreSeed startups. IFF plans to execute 25 transactions throughout its investment period, starting with initial investments between €500,000 and €1.5 million.
