And with so many of the operators showing full weeks now could not be a better time to begin the process, especially if you are a group 3 – 4 or more.   The heliskiing - helisnowboarding season begins late December for a handful of operators with all operators in full swing by early to mid-Jan. With the busiest few weeks of the ski season now upon us, let’s talk about piste safety. ⛷️🏂️🦺 As kids we learn the Green Cross Code and as adults we learn the Highway Code to keep us safe on the roads. Did you know there's an equivalent for staying safe on the slopes? ❓️ Let us introduce you to Piste X Code. ✨️ Local initiative, Piste X Code, was launched in Morzine in 2022 in response to a tragic accident at a nearby ski resort. Piste X Code is a bilingual slope safety campaign that aims to increase knowledge and understanding to help everybody stay safe on the ski slopes. 🇫🇷🇬🇧 They have also launched a two minute animated video (just in time for the school holidays!) to introduce little skiers and snowboarders of the future to the concepts of piste safety in a fun, engaging and memorable way! Collisions. They can happen in anywhere other people are. The slopes can be crowded...or only have two people on the snow. I've seen collisions happen both ways. The impact doesn't have to be huge to do harm. An awkward fall or an entanglement can break bones or bust ligaments, too. Here's a pro tip: STOP LOOKING AT YOUR DANG FEET! Okay, that was a bit negative. Here's the positive version: LOOK WHERE YOU WANT TO GO. All the fun is downhill, so look there, not at your dang feet. If our focus is pointed DOWN we'll miss all the other things AROUND us. Do you know and show the National Ski Areas Association "Your Responsibility Code" You can learn it during lunch, or on your way to the mountains. New learners can understand it as well as lifelong skiers and riders.   Let's make sure we share the slopes safely with each other. There are a few things to take into consideration when considering your options: - The age group and experience of skiers you are looking at taking👦 👧. Younger age groups and less experienced skiers may benefit from a quieter, smaller resort as it will give them more freedom and be less intimidating. - The size of the group you are taking; both big and small groups of pupils on your school ski trip can have pros and cons (your staff team in either scenario is key!). Consider this when enquiring and have a clear picture in your head of the size group you would like to bring! -How would you like to get to the resort? In times gone by, school trips all started with a very long coach journey🚌. Thankfully, flying is no longer a luxury due to cheaper air travel and more places being reachable by flight🛩.
