Last week, it was a pleasure to be a part of BlackRock's annual flagship institutional investor conference, Institutional Investor Insights - In3. I had the opportunity to moderate a panel with Lynn Baranski and Colm Lanigan, where we discussed how we see momentum continuing to build in private equity: - Deal Activity: A record $2.7T of dry powder from 2023 and new macroeconomic trends are expected to fuel an increase in private equity deals. - M&A Activity: An increase in large deals in Q1 of 2024 signals a growing market, likely boosted by favorable lending conditions and attractive LBOs. - Exit Opportunities: As IPO volumes increase, stabilizing rates and easing inflation are clearing the way for a backlog of exits, with firms ready to capitalize on improved market conditions.
