You know when you are too lazy to learn something new but suddenly you have no choice? For me that would describe a lot of things but definitely GA4! My awesome performance marketing manager Aaron Brown wanted a better understanding of our paid performance since every platform seems to be overcounting. We started a big overhaul with the MediaConfidant team Michael Strachan, Jordan M, plus my amazing developer Andrew Sherman. The bad news is that it is confusing and was pretty messy but the good news is that I am going to start saying "data layer" and "big query" at parties, over dinner, while walking my dog, at my son's chorus performance, my neighbors grandma's funeral, etc. AND of course, I am excited to see the truth in my spend and get better and smarter at what I do. 3rd party intent data = highly questionable. Don’t believe me?  Have you tried it?  The further the party away, the more you are playing the telephone game. “He said she said they may or may not be interested in what you may or may not be offering.” Better than cold cold? Sure, but not by much. Don’t buy the bells and whistles and hope that spray and pray to 90-day loose intent is the answer. Or, try it and you can see for yourself. It’s not the needs knees, but it’s something to start with. SaaS companies blow ad money like bachelor parties blow money. Stop the bleeding and get a little patient in the process and deploy intent data. But, understand the difference beteeen 3rd party intent (free in Apollo.io), and 1st party, (get ready to spend and also ensure you have the demand.)
