Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. He therefore is the truest friend of the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue. - Samuel Adams

Justice is a complicated concept. More than just being done, it should be SEEN to be done. The judiciary sometimes underestimates its own ability to sow anarchy. Judicial discretion shall be subject to humanity first in the ambit of constitutional values and basic structure. Sometime literal interpretation of statues not enough , there should be harmonious or beneficial construction of laws. Every statue has its particular object which is to be achieved by proper implementation along with right interpretation.

Today’s prevalent government: becoming our most dangerous violator instead of protector of our rights; initiates physical force in any manner it pleases instead of protecting us from the initiators of physical force; no longer serving as the instrument of objectivity in human relationships but is creating a deadly subterranean reign of uncertainty and fear, by means of non-objective laws whose interpretation is left to the arbitrary decisions of random bureaucrats; instead of protecting men from injury by whim, our government is arrogating to itself the power of unlimited whim - so that we are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: where government is free to do anything it pleases, while we may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force. The Nature of Government by Ayn Rand.

2wThanks for sharing. Samuel Adams is a US founding father that unfortunately is less known, but has contributed quite a lot to the foundation of our country and the importance of liberty and certain rights such as freedom of religion.
