Ensuring Water Safety for Our Children: Announcing the Zero Drownings Miami-Dade Initiative! 💧 Did you know that drowning is a leading cause of death among young children? Here in Miami-Dade it is the #1 cause of death of kids ages 1 to 9. That’s why community partners came together to proudly announce the Zero Drownings Miami-Dade initiative. 🎉. This program will make current and future generations of four and five-year olds safer in and around the water. Thousands of children will receive FREE water safety lessons as part of M-DCPS kindergarten and public and private early learning field trips during the school day at select public schools and child care centers.
