This past month in Lockheed Martin’s Operations Leadership Development Program, I was given the opportunity to not only attend a Leadership Conference with other fellow first years throughout the corporation within their respective development programs but was also able to complete my Green Belt training so that I can apply Lean Six Sigma principles throughout the remainder of my career. I wanted to thank my LDC1 coaches Lauren Pentz and Fred Elsey for providing aluable insights throughout the week. I also wanted to thank my Green Belt coaches Omar Aguila, MIS,LSSBB and Don Downs for spending their time to train us so that we can continue to grow and eventually facilitate our own Lean Six Sigma projects for the betterment of Lockheed Martin. These opportunities are so important in the early stages of someone’s career because the lessons learned will be carried with us as we progress within the corporation and build our leadership edge. Some of the key takeaways I had from these recent events were: 🗣️ Stephanie C. Hill shared some of her career imperatives that aligned with her motto of “Leading with a Human Touch”. The two that resonated with me the most was to 1) build a strong track record and 2) the importance to communicate, communicate, communicate. 🧠We analyzed the difference between a fixed mindset vs a growth mindset. From there, we were able to recognize what scenarios “hijack our emotions” and cause us to fall from a growth mindset to a fixed mindset. ♾️ Improvement should be a continuous cycle. Once you’ve completed your project and reached or exceeded the goals you set out to achieve, reevaluate the process to see what else can be improved upon.
