#IFGS2024 - it’s been a privilege to join inspiring leaders from our global #fintech and #financialservices #ecosystem at the spectacular Guildhall, discussing future #trends in an incredibly historic setting, complete with the ruins of a Roman amphitheatre, and attending a reception at the Mansion House hosted by the Lord Mayor. Despite global challenges and economic and geopolitical uncertainty, I left feeling optimistic about the potential of collaboration and innovation to tackle some of our biggest challenges and opportunities such as #financialhealth, #financialinclusion, #sustainability and leveraging #AI and other #tech responsibly. It was a pleasure to hear from the CEO of Monzo Bank and the President of Robinhood on #scaling and to catch up with so many talented people, including Nadia Sergejuk, Arun Fernandez, Stephanie Poon, Robyn Margetts, David Beer, Samuel Afolabi, Caroline Vaughan, Joanna Wlazlak, Claire Dopson and others who are driving transformation and impact! Thanks and congratulations to the amazing Innovate Finance team (all of you and especially Roberto Napolitano, MBA and Amelia Martinez for your ongoing help and support) on a fantastic event, your 10th anniversary and everything you do to ensure the success and growth of our global ecosystem, now and in the future! I had the best #Pay360 lunch break talking to talented future leaders from Click Start London at the University of East London! We delved into facing #fear, building #confidence, always learning, career #advice and powerful lessons from my late father, who encouraged so many to believe in themselves, learn from inspiring people, and lift and #empower others. This continued many themes from my talk last week and I enjoyed sharing candid stories! Thanks so much to these dynamic, bright marketers for asking great questions and sharing their aspirations and challenges so openly, to Jitka Drahotská, Danielle Bakare and Jean Duprez at Be the Business for hosting me, to Asi Panditharatna and Josh Brown at The Forward Trust for inviting me and to all the dedicated teams at Be the Business, The Forward Trust, Institute of Coding, Nominet and the University of East London for running Click Start London, a programme to help upskill young people and close the #digitalskillsgap. “Stories can be used to empower, to humanise.” - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie 🌟 I’m terrified of public speaking, so I nearly turned down this opportunity to join Oaklin’s panel of inspiring leaders to share our candid, personal stories of doubting ourselves and #impostersyndrome. I’m so grateful that I felt the fear but said yes. Thanks so much to the brilliant Oaklin team, especially Chiara Ronga for inviting me, Shikha Goyal for moderating an insightful and fearless discussion and my distinguished fellow panellists Constance Chinhengo, Caroline Hurndall MBE and Anita Gajadhar, and Claudia Dilley, Assoc. CIPD, Shikha, Chiara and their colleagues for this initiative. It was wonderful to see such a diverse audience - people of all ages, ethnicities, genders, backgrounds and sectors - and voiced commitment to driving real impact and positive change. We agreed that imposter syndrome is universal and we discussed the need to create truly inclusive work cultures where we empower others and have a zero tolerance policy for #bullying. We shared advice on how to bolster our own and others’ self-belief and practical action we can all take to support others and tackle systemic challenges. Write down your notes. - When you doubt yourself, make a list of what you’ve accomplished and challenges you’ve overcome. People with courage and conviction have changed history by speaking out when they were afraid. The greatest leaders, writers, artists, scientists and change-makers have all faced failure and shown resilience. My late father transformed his pain and suffering into a passion for social justice and a legacy of making the legal profession more diverse and inclusive. Never let anyone tell you what you can’t do. - Surround yourself with inspiring, generous people. Be grateful and empower others. As my father said, “You can do anything if you believe in yourself and have people to support and inspire you.”

Delighted to announce I'm joining The Forward Trust charity's Employment Services Advisory Board and supporting their Click Start programme, a digital skills programme for 18-25 year-olds in #London who are not in education or employment (#NEET) and want a job or apprenticeship in #dataanalysis or #digitalmarketing. This is in partnership with Be the Business, the University of East London and the Institute of Coding to tackle the UK's #digitalskills gap. This inspiring initiative from Asi Panditharatna and the Forward Trust team helps level the playing field and give young people opportunities, skills and support to fulfil their potential and achieve their greatest aspirations. The Forward Trust is an incredible charity running a variety of initiatives and programmes to have a positive #impact on society, from helping former addicts and ex-offenders to raising aspirations for young people with practical skills, training and mentoring. #DEI Thanks to Asi and the team for the opportunity to be part of their fantastic work, and thanks to my former colleague Sid Pednekar for making the introduction to Asi years ago.
