✳️𝘼 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙩𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙠 #22 - 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙑𝙤𝙞𝙙𝙨✳️ Information voids are outright dangerous. Employees will always fill in the blanks with made-up stories. Don't let these made-up stories take hold. For those of you who prefer reading over watching the video, here is the text:   Hi. I’m Mark Fackler.   When people are presented with an incomplete story, they will fill in the gaps with guesses, occasionally good guesses, quite often bad, really bad guesses. The science of physics tells us that physical voids are hard to hold. ✅The science of human dynamics tells us that information voids are impossible to hold.   When we hear of a situation, any situation, where the facts behind the situation are not presented, our brain makes stuff up to fill the void. And often, the story we create to fill that information void will be the ✅worst possible scenario.   As leaders, especially CEOs, we need to be ultra-aware of this phenomenon, not only in the minds of our team, but in our own minds.   As a CEO, providing information, especially sensitive information, can be scary, but without it, your team is filling in with their made-up stories and I guarantee that their made-up stories are always unproductive and at times dangerous. ✅The choice is yours, leave the void or provide the information.   ✅The solution for your own information voids: curiosity. Curiosity leads to questions which led to answers. Let the story your mind creates start with curiosity, and then build the story as you get your questions answered.   ✅My advice for information voids, fill them with answers if you have them and curiosity and questions if you don’t.  Vistage Worldwide, Inc. #MarksMusings #Vistage #CEO #Leadership #Reallife

As usual, #nailedit Mark! In the absence of information and collaboration, fear and bias jumps in and 'fills that void' in sometimes (often?) the worst possible ways. Thanks for the reminder! #guru #bias #leadership
