In recent months, international student mobility has faced numerous changes, making it challenging for some students to reach established destinations. However, the broader trend is positive. In the early 2000s, only about 2 million students had access to international education opportunities. By the end of next year, this number is forecasted to reach 7.5 million, nearly four times higher.
I strongly believe that not only will this growth continue, but it will even accelerate over the next 25 years due to three major factors:
1. More Destinations: Increasingly, more countries are becoming hosts to international students, providing more accessible and affordable options.
2. Technology Platforms: Platforms like ApplyBoard and other technologies are empowering students with greater knowledge and experience to unlock their potential.
3. Labor Shortages: Developed countries are facing challenges in population growth and labor shortages. International students are ideal to fill these gaps, bringing immediate financial benefits and a seamless transition into the workforce. It’s a win-win for both the students and the host countries.
I’ve witnessed firsthand how hundreds of our students have unlocked their potential and made significant impacts in their host countries over the last years.
So let’s be optimistic and not get carried away by today’s challenges. Let’s focus on unlocking every single potential student, one student at a time.
