In 1972 Ed Catmull and Fred Parke created the world's first 3D rendered movie, an animated version of Ed's left hand. This clip was eventually discovered by a Hollywood producer and incorporated into the 1976 movie Futureworld. The pioneering techniques used here are the basis for the 3D rendering we still do today in video games, movies and special effects. Did you know that Epic Games shares a public product roadmap of experimental and potential features for Unreal Engine 5 ? The forward looking section has a lot of great infromation on potential features and workflows Epic is looking into. It does not mean everything states will make it into engine but is great to see what they are working on. The next version of engine will be 5.4 which will have some major features and upgraded workflows. Halo Helljumpers of Reach Part 1 I made this animation during the beggining of 2023 as project for my university #NapierUniversity. During my animation process I used the UnrealEngine and involved compositing and vfx. I also took assets of the #Halo games, added tweaking of some the characters and materials for the vehicle to be more visible inside.
