Did you miss our latest safety webinar. Here is what Harbor Steel & Supply Corporation President Michael Weis had to say about it: “This webinar was very eye opening for our leadership team. We learned just because our numbers are low doesn't mean we are safe. It caused us to realize we need to adopt this Zero Harm mindset and approach to build the safety culture at Harbor Steel.” John Reid, chair of the MSCI Board of Directors and director, president, and CEO of Russel Metals, and Steve Yates, MSCI Health and Safety Committee member and president and founder of UpVantage Strategies, LLC, discussed revolutionizing safety in the industrial metals sector and the steps MSCI member companies need to take to create a zero harm environment. You can view the webinar at the link below, but don't forget about all the other safety resources that are available to MSCI members., including our Metals Safety Workshop Series. You can find info for that series and more under the safety tab at the very top right of www.msci.org. As John and Steve noted on the webinar, developing safety leaders is a crucial step in creating a zero harm environment. MSCI can help! 🎯𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿 committed to providing a work environment that promotes safety, employee welfare, and growth opportunities.
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝟮.𝟬 Which is better: Virtue Signaling or Leadership Engagement? I recently read an interesting debate about leadership safety commitments. It wasn’t that they were wrong, but they may leave a misleading impression that safety involves simplistic role modeling and gestures without listing adequate investment, resourcing, and equipment. 🏭 Safety is not some mysterious force acting on an otherwise perfect system under ideal, sanitary conditions. It is a measure of our reliability and resilience throughout our interaction. It’s the quality of the work. Rules indicate barriers; they don’t describe a process for success. Actions speak louder than words. A good leader and 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 organizations know that safety is a temporary outcome of many transdisciplinary things done well, not just silly basic stuff we occasionally do. 🌎 Take care 💡 𝙱𝚞𝚒𝚕𝚍 𝚒𝚝 𝚒𝚗, 𝚍𝚘𝚗’𝚝 𝚋𝚘𝚕𝚝 𝚒𝚝 𝚘𝚗! 🚧 SAFT3RD 🚧 #safety #insurance #business #humanresources #management

“Safety starts with management leadership and commitment. Without these, the efforts of others in the organization are almost doomed to failure. Leadership creates culture, which drives behavior.” ― Nancy G. Leveson, Engineering a Safer World: Systems Thinking Applied to Safety The quote by Nancy G. Leveson emphasizes the critical role that management leadership and commitment play in ensuring safety within an organization. Without strong leadership and a commitment to safety, the efforts of others in the organization are likely to fail. This is because leadership sets the tone for the organization's culture, which in turn drives employee behavior. When leaders prioritize safety, it sends a message to employees that safety is important and valued. As a result, employees are more likely to take safety seriously and make it a priority in their work. Ultimately, a commitment to safety starts at the top and is essential for creating a safe and healthy work environment. DEAXO - We make it work. We make it right. https://deaxo.com/ #DEAXO #safety

In the evolving terrain of industrial leadership... where safety takes center stage... mastering these three fundamentals is a must! Keep reading...👇 #1 Have an Authentic Care for Safety: Safety isn't a mere checkbox; it's an authentic care for your team's well-being. Genuine leadership builds trust, creating an environment where everyone feels valued, protected, and committed to collective safety. #2 Active Listening for Safety Insights: In the hustle of daily operations, active listening becomes a safety superpower. Tune in to safety concerns, ideas, and feedback from your team. A leader who truly listens can foster a culture where every voice contributes to the collective goal of well-being. #3 Crafting a Clear Safety Vision: A leader without a safety vision is like a ship without a compass in stormy seas. Define a clear safety vision that inspires and guides your team. This vision becomes the roadmap to collective safety success, ensuring everyone works together towards a common goal. -- Leadership in today's industrial environment, where safety plays a pivotal role, is an ongoing journey, not a one-time task. Embrace authentic care for safety, practice active listening for safety insights, and define a compelling safety vision to guide your team toward a destination of collective well-being. #safetyleadership #safetytraining #osha #electricity
