I’m not convinced … I’ll take a look at local data. It certainly did not feel warm here on the east coast, with lots of haar impacting temperatures. Nonetheless, since the report only mentions “above average” and not a meaningful number I will repeat what I have said many times: What does this mean in terms of the statistics? Are you (Met Office of course!) saying this is significant? Is it more than two standard deviations above average? Or is it between 1 and 2? Or is it less than 1? These things actually matter … because i can guarantee that most people who read this have zero idea how wide the daily range of temperatures is in the UK!

We need a "turned out nice again" index. To include temperature precipitation and clooud cover.....
