Will Ozempic lawsuits turn into the next big Mass Tort? A number of law firms are investigating claims involving weight loss drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro and their alleged association to gastroparesis also known as stomach paralysis. Currently, these cases are not centralized in an MDL but I anticipate the number of lawsuits filed to increase and an MDL formed before the end of the Summer 2024. While now would seem like a good time to acquire cases, I will note that prescription drug cases are oftentimes the hardest cases to litigate due to the FDA approval process and pre-emption arguments. At this early juncture, I would expect only the most experienced Mass Tort law firms to be involved.
