Thiveanathan K was my HR head when I worked in Coke Singapore. At work, he would often share well written books that was a breeze to read. Sharing a screen shot of one of the messages that came along with a book he shared with me at work, way back in 2008. For his own book, he has done the same: very well thought out and insightful ideas written in a simple way that is designed to elicit reflections. He used to have a notebook where he captured in his own words his, "HARD-LEARNED LESSONS AT WORKPLACE ABOUT STRATEGIES, PEOPLE PRACTICES, LEADERSHIP, AND SUBTLE AREAS SUCH AS CULTURE, VALUES AND BEHAVIOURS AT WORK". Guided perhaps by that notebook, the book is a beautiful synthesis of his HR experience in 205 short nuggets of wisdom. I wanted to select my top 5 nuggets, but there were so many that I’m attaching the top 5 screen shots from his books (TEXT HEAVY but ABSOLUTE GEMS!!). Going through those nuggets made me reflect about practices that will make people do better in an organization. Strongly recommend this book, which will perhaps take less than an hour to finish, but will give you a powerful lens to look at your organizational practices around people!!
