A simple recipe to grow the network … … is the (coffee) roulette! ☕️ 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 - An enthusiastic community, for example Tech colleagues, your business unit or this year's new joiners - A sign up form - A mechanism to match and inform colleagues (Excel may be your friend) 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 1. Create a sign up form including the email address. 2. Advertize the roulette and collect sign ups. 3. Once the sign ups have closed, match the participants in groups of two or three and inform them about the matches. 4. The matched colleagues organize themselves when, where and how to meet. 5. That's all! Easy, right? 𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭 - Try to meet in person. - Automate the admin steps as much as possible. - Repeat, repeat, repeat! "You have to network more". For a long time, "networking" sounded to me like grabbing canapés and making small talk with a stranger in an event coffee break, while exchanging business cards. Boring. But it's about making your "net", this complex, interlocking system of relationships, work for you and for others. Picture a spider's web: it's about all the connecting points that you can weave into your life to help you learn and develop, and support others as well. It's solid, it's real, and *you* build it. This group started as a Lean In chapter in Paris, and evolved to a network of 15-20 international women who meet and exchange regularly. We talk, with (some) structure: we've been following our work lives for quite some time, so when we share our doubts or concerns, there is always an expert eye, there's always this outside view, rich from our different life and professional paths, as well as from our strong willingness to honestly support each other - because we've all been there. And because we trust each other to share, sometimes what we hear are rude awakenings; but it's all meant well, and done lightly, and we grow. This is my web, one of the many branches that my web has. Simple things said in these meetings have helped me unblock so many relevant beliefs, and I've grown not only from what I've heard, but from what I've shared as well. If you want to build your network, start now - don't wait until you need something from someone. Reach out and share what you have. Ask questions, contact someone you knew from a previous job. Join groups, even if you're an introvert - there'll always be somewhere you'll feel comfortable in. And send me a note - I'd love to bring you in to my web, and support you on building your own! Our vision included providing benefits beyond the norm, such as unlimited vacation days, access to mental health support, and ensuring every employee has a fully operational laptop from day one. Although these initiatives were part of our core philosophy, they had not been formally evaluated until recently. Last month, Apolix participated in the organisation-wide Great Place To Work® Nederland survey for the first time. We are extremely excited to announce that we score a whopping 93% satisfaction across the board and are now Great Place to Work Certified! For reference, the average for comparative companies in the Netherlands is 58%.
