🍄🧠 84% of consumers now think mental health and focus are 'just as important as physical well-being.' People are getting more educated on functional ingredients, with a growing mindset that they can treat, heal and fuel themselves through what they eat. Mind + Mood-Boosting ingredients are supercharging the rise in food + bev functionality. Leading brands in this space include Wise Bar, Mindright, Kin Euphorics and Recess, with ingredient stories of MCT oil, adaptogens, or ashwagandha. We've only just scratched the surface of this emergent movement, but the impact is massive. If this is what we're seeing today, what's next? Emotional Eating : Why it Happens & How to Stop it. Do you race to the pantry when you feel down or upset? You’re not alone. It’s common for people to turn to food for comfort as a way to cope with big, difficult feelings. When you eat in response to emotions, it’s called emotional eating. Everyone does it sometimes. Our bodies need food to survive. It makes sense that eating lights up the reward system in the brain and makes you feel better. When emotional eating happens often, and you don’t have other ways to cope, it can be a problem. Although it may feel like a way to cope in those moments, eating doesn’t address the true issue. If you’re feeling stressed, anxious, bored, lonely, sad, or tired, food won’t fix those feelings. Emotional eating is often an automatic behavior. The more that food is used to cope, the more established the habit becomes. How to stop emotional eating :- It can be hard to change a habit like emotional eating, but it is possible. Below are some ways to help you cope. Identify your emotional eating triggers. The first step in putting a stop to emotional eating is identifying your personal triggers. What situations, places, or feelings make you reach for the comfort of food? Most emotional eating is linked to unpleasant feelings, but it can also be triggered by positive emotions, such as rewarding yourself for achieving a goal or a celebration. These are the alternatives to emotional eating - 👉 If you’re depressed or lonely, call someone who always makes you feel better, play with your pets, or look at a favorite photo or cherished memento. 👉 If you’re anxious, expend your nervous energy by dancing to your favorite song, squeezing a stress ball, or taking a brisk walk. 👉 If you’re exhausted, treat yourself with a hot cup of herbal tea, take a warm bath, or wrap yourself in a warm blanket. 👉 If you’re bored, read a good book, watch a comedy show, explore the outdoors, or turn to an activity you enjoy. 👉 Make daily exercise a priority 👉 Aim for 8 hours of sleep every night 👉 Make time for relaxation ... #dtreema #FoodSynergy #functionalmedicinedoctor #emotionaleating #emotionaleatingrecovery #holistichealing https://lnkd.in/dsyExXd8

Helping women develop a healthy, joyful relationship with food! - Nutrition Mindset Coach and Dietitian at Confident Nutrition
One big reason my clients struggle is because people-pleasing complicates intuitive eating. Do any of these sound familiar? 😕 Adjusting how much you eat to avoid wasting food or being awkward at a social event 😕 Agreeing to follow a diet to fit in with friends or avoid rejection 😕 Eating foods you don't enjoy to be polite 😕 Difficulty setting boundaries around “food pushers” People pleasing is an example of eating for external reasons, rather than for internal cues. Like eating for emotional reasons, it’s not bad or good. It just is. And if it’s chronic, and the only way you know how to interact with food, you might want to consider something else. There are many ways it can look, and… it’s complicated. For example, here’s one where you may decide you *don't* want to only use your internal cues: 💭 You’re in a food sharing scenario, and there isn’t enough for everyone to eat to fullness. You could eat to fullness and deal with the awkwardness, but you want to leave some for everyone else too. So you decide to eat less, so that everyone in the group can have some. (by the way, this is a great example of how the Tongue, Body, Brain Alignment™ framework can be helpful!) 😉 Here are 4 tips to reflect on people-pleasing tendencies and empower your intuitive eater: - Check your "shoulds." Ask if a food choice is what YOU want. - Set boundaries. Politely decline diet talk from friends. - Honor your hunger/fullness. Eat for your body's needs. - Consider what you want out of a particular situation. Sometimes it’s food, sometimes it’s connection, sometimes it’s something else. Let me know if you need support. I'm here for you! PS - shoutout to Cristina Roman who inspired me with her take on people-pleasing tendencies, how they impact productivity, and a mindset shift to help! 💜 -- I help women with a lot going on develop healthy and joyful relationships with their food, and peace with themselves and their bodies at any size. I talk about intuitive eating, practical self-care, and basic skills. Follow me / connect for more! #intuitiveeating #peoplepleasing #boundaries

High Performance Coach to World Champion athletes and CEO’s looking to optimise their health & elevate their performance | Head of Performance Matchroom Boxing
Let’s be transparent when it comes to alcohol, it’s a big part of a lot of our clients lifestyles. So here’s what @drjamesmorehen advises when it comes to a night out and staying on track with your goals: 1. Volume. Same rules apply when it comes to indulging on the foods we may enjoy that are not necessarily aligned with our goal. Portion control counts when it comes to wine, beer, you name it. Remember at the end of the day, just because its a liquid, it still has calories. 2. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Dehydration has a huge impact on the effects of a hangover. Try and have a glass of water between every drink if you can, to offset the heavy head the following day. Yes, you can still be social while working towards your goals and in fact we champion it, especially as the holidays are around the corner. After all, what are you working so hard for?

Some food for thought today. Gonna say something a little controversial here… Emotional eating actually is okay. In my opinion… it’s quite normal! Think about it … How many foods do you associate with a certain memory… even just the smell of food brings you right back to a memory. Or how many times have you had a rough day and craved a certain food? There's a reason why certain foods are comforting! If you’re feeling sad or emotional we as humans naturally lean into what brings us comfort. Sometimes that can be food. It’s not your fault and it doesn’t have to be a bad thing! If you struggle with Emotional eating let me tell you… There's nothing wrong with you. I want to encourage you next time you’ve had a stressful day and turn to food for comfort to try this… Give yourself some grace… Mindfully have that biscuit… Quit beating yourself up over a dang biscuit!! Start operating from a place of love and compassion and saying, you know what, this is happening… I'm eating a biscuit! There are different levels of emotional eating and some days it can be okay at times while others can have a negative impact on the body. What makes emotional eating a potential “bad thing” is frequency. It's important to be able to discern whether or not you are constantly emotionally eating or you're actually hungry. Too many women carry the emotional weight of what they think are “bad” food choices. Unless you start making significant changes in your mindset and reframe how you view eating as a whole you’ll never build the foundation you need to maintain the goals you’ve reached. So when life gets in the way, you’ll be able to stay consistent in your goals.
