Waiting in the lobby of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Deerfield. Big CT scan is finally here. About 2 years from when I had my tumor removed. Just over to the left was the lobby that used to be like a 2nd home. So much has changed here. At the peak of my treatment COVID protocols were in full swing. Nobody could come in with me, not to wait in the lobby, not to hold my hands during chemo, nothing. Now, loved ones are here comforting the sick through the fear and anxiety. There are some things I miss. The screening table associates became friends with you - always trying to brighten your day. I miss Kevin - he would always make me laugh and we shared a loved of food, so he would always run to my sisters car to bring me food in whenever I got a craving during chemo. The check in girls were bright and cheery and always would find something to compliment me on. It helped to have someone remind you there’s always something to feel good about even in the darkest times. I am excited about the coffee and hot chocolate returning - this lobby is FREEEEEZING even with my sweater. I can’t wait to warm up after my scan. As you can see, it’s the little personal touches and relationships that are formed during adversity that remain with me. It’s like that in the business world as well. Acknowledge a clients pain point, then provide customized solutions that add value. You will form a lasting relationship of trust, and the problems will fade away. The good will remain. #cancersurvivor #cancersucks #customerexperience #customerretention #solutions #relationshipmanagement
