There is no “right” way to invest in an asset class. Depending on the investor and the sector they are allocating to, in some cases it will make sense to build out in-house capabilities, while in others outsourcing to external managers will be the sensible choice. What matters is that investors begin by ascertaining the extent to which an asset class sits within their sphere of competence.
