You can win the war even if you lose the battle. Don’t. Give. Up. This is especially illustrated in multi-stage bike races like le de Tour France. Technically the only American to ever win the 21 day race, in 1990 Greg LeMond won the race and didn’t win a single day’s stage! It’s about your cumulative contribution. If today wasn’t much or wasn’t good, tomorrow still has promise for the overall victory. I was reminded of this when I got my goal of an average 18 mph over a 50 mile bike route I had been working on. Notice the top right of the picture where medals are posted. Not a single segment medal, but achieved the goal. Tomorrow doesn’t have to be like today. Consistent wins. This is as true in your leadership, as for your culture, and anything you’re building. Don’t let today stop you from a better tomorrow. They are not and will not be the same. Spencer Holt, PhD it’s the small things that make big impact. Just finished reading "Legacy: What the All Blacks Can Teach Us About the Business of Life" by James Kerr. As a Marine Corps veteran, I was struck by the parallels between my experience and the strategies employed by the legendary New Zealand rugby team, the All Blacks. This book highlights how they built upon success and continue to evolve in a highly competitive environment, winning time and again. It's not a lengthy read, but the message and lessons taught are massive. Highly recommend this book on leadership to anyone looking to improve their skills. #Leadership #AllBlacks #Success #Legacy

Christophe is an international Rugby Union referee and was recently involved in the Rugby World Cup. Christophe has some great insights into the parallels between refereeing on the rugby field and the corporate world, particularly around decision making and developing a resilient mindset. Many Great Stats: - 24 sesaons - 296 wins - 30 Playoff Victories - 11 Consecutive Division Titles - 17 AFC East Titles - 9 Conference Championships - 6 Super Bowls The 1 Important Stat: - The 1 Head Coach who discerned talent in Tom Brady (a 6th round selection, 199th overall in the 2000 NFL Draft - every other team missed discerning the talent in him) and the Coach invested in TB12 over a long term (and this is not a one-off because Belichick also discerned unique potential in Julian Edelman, Nate Ebner, Matthew Slater, Chris Hogan, and many others whose potential & talents were not discerned equally well by other coaches) ------------------ Lesson for PE & Business: Exceptional leaders are those who possess a rare ability to spot unique talent (and potential) that is missed/unseen by others, and then lead this talent to their fullest potential to build winning teams. #leadership #sports #investing #pe #privateequity #business

It’s often stated that it’s the small things that make the biggest difference in business success. But those small things take hours of thought and detailed preparation if they are to ultimately make a difference to performance and results.
