It's okay to ask your teams and employees to come back to the office, but... just be clear and honest... John Amaechi OBE says it so much better! John Dore - Scott Newton etc... - would love to hear your insights? #leaders #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #wfh #workfromhome #hybridwork
It is no problem to ask people to return to their offices… But there are caveats. For the next 2 weeks, I will be sharing my thoughts on the ongoing contentious debate that pits our offices against our homes as practical places of work. I could not agree more. A certain amount of thoughtfulness and subtlety is required here. I have seen amazing productivity in hybrid workplaces, where people can choose where and how they work most effectively. I've also experienced higher eNPS scores from teams when they can avoid the specious overhead of forced daily travel. It's intellectually lazy to assume that productivity will simply improve by forcing people to a daily legacy office routine. There is definitely a role for in-person collaboration, but it needs to be deliberate and thoughtful and not just an assumed byproduct of sitting side by side every day. I have found that if you engage people in a compelling mission, give them clear goals, and the right tools to enable asynchronous/distributed collaboration, they will often give you more than you ask for as a leader—regardless of where they are located.

Happy new year! 🎆 2024 is only two days old. Some of us are free from work, some are taking the opportunity to work from home and some have already ticked off the first working day of the year at the office. Offices still have an important place in our hybrid working lives and several surveys, including our own Join the workplace revolution, show that this will continue to be the case. It’s in the offices that we build and maintain our corporate culture. It’s where we meet and get creative together. Many people spend a large part of their professional lives in offices, and this is one of the main reasons why offices have become a popular setting for films. 🎥 Have you seen the films we mention in this article from our magazine Smarter Worklife? Please tell us which one is your favourite. https://lnkd.in/dNCdeRyg #coor #newyear #backtowork #office

Our Love Monday’s post went out to all of our co-members who took part in our Step Challenge in September, and our wider network helping contribute to the collection for the Trussell Trust. Well done to everybody who took part and/or contributed, and an additional shout out to Amanda Collins and Shannon Kirrane for organising. https://lnkd.in/eshXr_RN Are you still spending time doing manual reference checks? Earlier this year I was able to do a Zoom interview with young professionals currently serving in State Government and get their take on some important workplace situations for NASPE. It is sort of long, but unbelievably GOOD information for anyone managing GenZ! Check it out and share with anyone you think could benefit from it! #generationaldiversity https://lnkd.in/g_XwfiSf
