EXTENDED Follow Up of CheckMate9ER Report sees updated efficacy and safety data on the combination of Nivolumab plus Cabozantinib (NIVO + CABO) for first-line treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma (aRCC), showing continued superiority over sunitinib (SUN) in terms of progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and objective response rate (ORR) after a median follow-up of 44.0 months. The study demonstrates improved median PFS (16.6 vs. 8.4 months), median OS (49.5 vs. 35.5 months), and higher ORR (56% vs. 28%) with NIVO + CABO compared to SUN, across various prognostic risk subgroups. Safety profiles remained consistent, reaffirming NIVO + CABO as a preferred first-line treatment option for aRCC. In this new era of antibody drug conjugates, we also got confirmation of a growing gap between the technologies available and lack of access to these innovative treatments, which had already started with the advent of immuno-oncology. The EPA conducted a (CR VI) Hexavalent Chromium Cancer causing carcinogen Workshop Commencing in September 2023! EPA is developing an updated IRIS assessment of hexavalent chromium. This assessment will evaluate the potential health effects of hexavalent chromium from oral and inhalation exposures. An important component of determining the cancer-causing potential of ingested hexavalent chromium is understanding the rates at which this metal is effectively detoxified in the gastrointestinal tract. To address this, EPA convened a state of the science workshop where an expert panel discussed this issue. This workshop was open to the public, broadcast by webinar/teleconference, and took place over two non-consecutive days. 🎉 In an exciting development in the field of immunotherapy, the fight against relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma (R/R MM) has made a breakthrough! 🎉 Recent clinical trials of bi-specific BC19 CAR T cells targeting both BCMA and CD19 antigens demonstrated their ability to selectively eliminate cancer cells expressing these antigens, paving the way for clinical evaluation. In a phase I/II study involving 50 R/R MM patients, BC19 CAR T cells showed excellent tolerability, meeting the primary safety endpoint. Encouragingly, secondary endpoints revealed a high overall response rate (92%) and promising median progression-free and overall survival durations (19.7 months each). #ClinicalTrials #MultipleMyeloma #Immunotherapy #CancerTreatment

In a new article published in Nature, Robert Prins, PhD, Linda Liau, MD, PhD, MBA, Richard Everson, MD, and team evaluated the effectiveness of adding the TLR agonists, poly-ICLC or resiquimod, to autologous tumor lysate-pulsed dendritic cell (ATL-DC) vaccination in patients with newly-diagnosed or recurrent WHO Grade III-IV malignant gliomas. Their findings suggest that combining ATL-DC with poly-ICLC can induce a polarized interferon response in circulating monocytes and CD8+ T cells, which may represent an important blood biomarker for immunotherapy in this patient population. Do PGVs in #BRCA1, #BRCA2 & #Lynchsyndrome genes contribute to risk of #lungcancer? Frequencies of #lungcancer #patient PGVs in these genes were signficantly higher than frequencies in a cohort of unaffected individuals w/ proactive #genetictesting (p<0.00001), further evidence that, like #EGFR pT790M, these PGVs are cancer-predisposing, however should not be considered as causative of LC.
