Let's take a moment to remember and honor the lives of those we lost: Gökhan Gültekin, Sedat Gürbüz, Said Nesar Hashemi, Mercedes Kierpacz, Hamza Kurtović, Vili Viorel Păun, Fatih Saraçoğlu, Ferhat Unvar, and Kaloyan Velkov. It's #NationalInclusionWeek and there are more activities than ever happening across CRUK to celebrate inclusion, and encourage our staff to take action action to create an inclusive workplace. This week's theme is to Take Action, Make Impact so I have been throwing myself into some of the events at CRUK. It's been great to see a range of activities that we can take part in. I was able to attend an event hosted by Inclusive Employers on microaggression and banter in the workplace and a key takeaway is how to use the AID model of feedback, when challenging others on this behaviour: Action, Impact, Do. On a much smaller scale, but equally as interesting, was a small team activity we did at the end of our HR EDI Group Meeting where we shared names and their backstory to share family and cultural stories, gain insight into each other’s backgrounds, and get to understand each other better. It can also foster conversations and help team members find things in common with each other. Although my story was incredibly brief it was great to hear from some of my colleagues and still find some common ground. To continue this years' theme I am going to utilise the insights from this week to further fine tune our Inclusive Recruitment training, to ensure this is having the desired impact.
